Root What does changing basebands affect?

I've got a Samsung Galaxy I7500L that I've unlocked and changed the baseband on from BMIK6 to VIJD1. I was wondering if it's going to change anything as far as my provider is concerned? I assume that it won't but I'd like to be sure.

No it shouldn't have any effect on the carrier. I believe it is similar to a radio.img where it helps with signal strength and things of that nature.

That's what I figured, I just wanted to be sure because after I flashed the firmware I got a Brazilian setup.
