I installed triangle away and it tells me that I have to be a "superuser" and that I need to be rooted. Is there a thread that helps me out on these questions?

being rooted is like having administrator privileges on your computer...it allows you access to areas of the operating system that are not available out of the box...

as for installing triangle away...if you're not rooted why would you need triangle away?

Android rooting is the process of allowing users of smartphones, tablets, and other devices running the Android mobile operating system to attain privileged control (known as "root access") within Android's subsystem. Rooting is often performed with the goal of overcoming limitations that carriers and hardware manufacturers put on some devices, resulting in the ability to alter or replace system applications and settings, run specialized apps that require administrator-level permissions, or perform other operations that are otherwise inaccessible to a normal Android user. Rooting is similar to jailbreaking devices running the Apple iOS operating system. On Android, rooting can also facilitate the complete removal and replacement of the device's operating system, usually with a more recent release of its current operating system.

main reason for root is custom roms.

It's just as the others said. By the way, what is your reason for using Triangle Away? As you don't know what rooting means, I suppose your device is still intact and completely stock. In that case, your flash counter should be set to 0. There's no need to use Triangle Away, hence.

He doesn't like triangles?

Sherlock. I don't. The question arises because I want to get the playshare, or is it share cast, hub for watching HDMI videos wirelessly, and I saw a you tube video that used triangle for some reason which was not clear. I asked myself, why would Samsung sell a product that required the user fiddling with the os. Does anyone know if that is required for the hub, and why if it is required?

Samsung isn't selling products that require the user to fiddle with the operating systems.

The user is rooting the phone to get around restrictions placed on the device by Samsung.

Examples-
overclocking the device to increase performance
Underclocking to increase battery life
Running custom roms or kernels to get added functionality the device didn't ship with.
Using root only apps to gain new functionality.
