What features do you want on the Evo 2?

Probably been said repeatedly but I would love to be able to remove programs I don't plan to use without rooting.

Over and over again, but keep saying it, maybe we will get heard.

And i will repeat again, I want, NO NEED, a 4.5 " or preferably a 5" screen!

Or how about a 7" tablet that comes with an awesome bluetooth headset!

^ Has the right idea. Evo 2 should be bigger, I'd preferrably want something at the 5" in range. That would allow me NOT to get tempted into getting a tab. I want the ultimate Smartphone/Tab hybrid... the Evo 2 could potentially become that. I'm a little worried because I don't think making it that big would be smart for consumers as a whole. BUT... if LG does make a 4.5-5.0" screen w/ dual core I may just jump to them. Assuming of course they also come to Sprint.

Yes, I place calls when I only want to edit a contact or such.

I wonder about the screen lock etc., but I have stood in a check out line, or elsewhere, and feel and hear my camera take a pocket picture. Doesn't that also require the screen to unlock? I thought it did, but how?

Not sure how you are doing that, I have never had a butt dial or pic ever with my Evo. It was a constant problem with the Hero, but the Evo you have to use the slide lock to do anything with the phone.
 
I want the best resolution screen, a better camera and camcorder, a gb + internal memory and ram, 1080p recording and playing back, a high quality front camera, a better battery, comes with a 32 gb sd card, and a tri core processor (this is the evo we raise the bar and set the trend).........i can't wait for my evo 2.

Been using the Evo for about 4 months now and I really don't think much needs to be changed. It'd be nice if it were a bit slimmer with the camera lense inset into the back instead of jutting out, but I'm not sure that's possible given how the Droid X is setup.

As everyone has mentioned it'd be nice to be able to remove bloatware, or at least move it to the SD card, but I'm sure there's 3rd party marketing involved, so it's not just a matter of speed.

I'd also like to see a high quality screen and maybe a more scratch resistent surface (both screen and rest of phone) that could remove the necessity of having certain types of phone cases.

Also, concerning the speed of the processor, it'd be nice to have some more memory and the dual core, but honestly . . . why? How much faster does it need to be? I went from a Blackberry Pearl to this thing and it's ****ing unbelievable. I still can't get over how amazing this phone is.

Unless you're going to be docking the phone and using it as the PCU for some netbook type thing (like the Motorola Atrix, which I guess is the next step for cell phones) that has word processing, OR you like using the phone for heavy games (I don't), then the speed is great.

I think the Evo 2 would be a disappointment if you couldn't do that.

Like you said, that is the next step for cell phones. If the Evo 2 doesn't take that step, it would be a disappointment.

$500 for the base station, plus an extra $20 per month for a required tethering plan, with capped data!

Leave it to AT&T to ruin a sure winner.

1) Better battery life (is it possible?)
2) Inset camera lense
3) Dual Core
4) More phone memory
5) Better Apps2SD
6) Honeycomb (Icecream?)
7) Higher quality screen
8) Docking capabilities

Possibile: (a) bigger screen; (b) better scratch resistence

And above all, no crippling bootloaders or tricks to limit rooting.


The technology is all there. It's only a matter of putting it together in a package to put the Evo back at the top of the evolutionary heap! Oh yeah and a $250 upgrade on two year contract.

I think Sprint sprint raised the bar with evo, and any android announcement that doesn't live up to an evo is a let down. I think Sprint should steer expectations for releases so that people aren't disappointed. Like tiers of Android phones. When I added my son to my family account we got him a free sumsung android phone. At 13, it met his expectations and he is very happy. Our expectations are different for that phone so there is no let down.

I think Sprint has a few month's before they let out info on the new EVO, and then it should come out around the same time as last year. Google, Sprint, and HTC should all be at the announcement and their should be excellent integration across the board. It should also be tied to a new release of Android that trumps the ones on Verizon and AT&T.

I was with big red, the OG D1 then a DInc, just a few weeks ago I termed my contract with big red. Just waiting to move to Sprint now and I was going to do it this next month....but if I get an EVO and then they announce an EVO 2 coming out in a few months I'm going to be LIVID
