What features do you want on the Evo 2?

HD-friendly, ultra-fast, more power-efficient core, bigger battery, 3D if you want it, higher res, camera button, no increase in thickness... and that's just what's confirmed.

Not seeing the downside yet.

I'm kinda liking this a lot.

Bet an accessory kickstand back helps flush-up the lenses, too.

Has any of the coverage made mention of simultaneous voice/data over 3G? That'd be one redeeming quality that some people (like me) would appreciate.

If the Thunderbolt can do it, the Evo 3D should be able to as well.

EVO 3d will do simultaneous over 4G.

No mention of doing it over 3G

I agree. I think the positives of this phone wayyyy out do the little negative things.

Im not gonna lie its a nice phone but not enough for me to buy at full retail price.now if they somehow make some changes and a device like the one bluescreen described then ill get it until then ill patiently wait.Im pretty sure theyll make a sense rom for us reg evo root users once the system dump comes out

The only thing that makes me question getting this phone is the camera. Why cant it be recessed or at the very least flush?

I'm on my second Evo because of a cracked lens that eventually caved in. My current one has a crack in it too. It's been in a Otterbox Commuter case since I got it and it still happened.

Guess I'll wait to see what other phones are going to be released in the coming months. Right now I might be leaning towards the Nexus S since it's pure Google. Which I think I'll like in many ways and not in some. Guess we'll find out if there's an Atrix variant for Sprint or not in the next month or two.

To me the downside is many of the features I enjoy with my current Evo either won't be possible or will require extra "accessories" to make possible.

For example- the kickstand. I use it every day. Not only do I use my phone as my clock, while on the kickstand, but I always use the kickstand when I watch videos or slingbox. I also use the kickstand to limit scratches on the camera.

The HDMI being combined with the USB means my HDMI cables won't work anymore. Either that or I have to buy some extra dongle to be able to use my current HDMI cable (which sounds like it's required if I want to charge while HDMI is being used).

The port being on the side means even if I get the stupid kickstand accessory, I won't be able to charge or watch HDMI with the kickstand down. Not only that, but my existing car docks probably won't allow me to charge it when docked.

The camera appears to be an even worse scratch magnet than my current Evo. Not only is the protrusion bigger with more surface area, but now there is no kickstand so it will have to lay down a lot more.

The more I think about it, the more I think I will pass on this device. I hope Sprint gets the Atrix.

Bluescreen should be banned for trolling. He was obviously full of crap with all of his "leaked" info.

Not bashing, but BlueScreen most have been teasing us. He basically said the phone would have everthing we could imagine and we bought his words, hook, line and sinker. In retrospect, the phone he dreamed up might be the Evo 6 or something...

I was really hoping for NFC, a kickstand and some of the camera tricks, but oh well.

I totally agree, I believe we all just got "Keyser S

Interesting. Anyone see the WCDMA and GSM listing for the phone on HTC? I'm guessing Sprint's the only carrier in the world getting this EXACT phone. Apparently this leads up to elieve it ha a SIM Card slot for LTE. Apparently Blue might of gotten that right, atleast basing off him having an HTC employee non-Sprint pre-production phone. Has he had the time to say anything yet?

Quite honestly, this is still a win-win situation for me. I absolutely LOVE my EVO and don't see any reason it couldn't last me for another year. When it's closer to the EVO 3D release, I'll take a deep look into the pros and cons of upgrading (there should be more reviews and tests done by that time).

If there are more pros for me upgrading this summer, I'll get the EVO 3D. If the cons out weigh the pros, I have no problem using my EVO for another year! IMO, it's still a fantastic phone and I still don't have any major complaints about it whatsoever.

Nope and he wont. If he comes back I'll be surprised.

A lot of you guys bought his info hook line and sinker. Glad I decided to keep an open mind. I'm not as disappointed as much as others are.

You have a link for that?

I had mine in nothing but an Innocase for a long time and my phone sees some rough conditions, I have yet to damage the camera lens

HTC has always been good about including any accessory connectors the phone might need so I would be surprised to not see a usb/hdmi splitter.

Not matching your dock? Honestly? Since when have you switched phone models and had the previous accessories that were designed specifically for that phone work for your new one?

I am impressed with the specs for the 3D, but there are features that are a bit of a let down (the narrower screen being a HUGE let down for me). I am going to wait and see what the full features list ends up being before making my decision.

@JMac- Possibly but I'm going the opposite directionn as you. I didn't have full faith in him as it seems not even the forum's staff can verify him. I'm willing to believe him though to a certain point. One of those is wether he decides to pop in or not. The fact no one can say that he called out these forums as he so boldly said he would strikes me as another blunder. We'll see.

For now I suggest hitting up Hesse and managements emails and Sprint's BAW. Try to give your argument in a well meaning and unchildish way and they may hear you out. If everyone follows this scheme while badgering them they may have a change of heart on some things. Personally other than the top area And missing things like tw kickstand I like the design. Oh and the fact the screen may not be as wide as the OG Evo =/

And now to Drex, the one who I quoted. I'm not confirming it or anything, was just guessing based off these listings. Their on the HTC page for the E3D. Although it seems they've changed or moved around a few tidbits. The hint rings loudly under Internet where GPRS and Edge are mentioned. There's a 5 mark that lead to the disclaimer below that talked about coverage in Europe and Asia but that's been fully removed. The other tipoff is under Power&Battery listing WCDMA

Take a look: HTC - Products - HTC EVO 3D ? Specification

Hm. Upon closer inspection the evo 3D on The HTC site lacks Sprints branding. But I dounlbt the exact same thing will be relwased elsewhere. And why would they have it listed as Evo when that's associated with Sprint. Of coarse a GSM varient could come outside of the U.S.

Hm. Back to square one I guess. No Dual LTE/Wimax untill Sprint confirms or we buy one.

Looking at the EVO 3D as a whole, I like it. But the main problem for me is the 1GB of internal memory. I don't get that at all. Unless something changes between now and release date I don't really see a reason for me to upgrade. And if my current EVO does get Gingerbread soon, that will make it even harder for me to upgrade. Just might have to wait for a real EVO 2.

4 gigs memory with 1 gig RAM. It seems the phone's been tweaked to allow RAM to use the 4 gigs if needed making it a potential 5 RAMs. The SD card(Yes it still has it. Internally thankfully. I used to like it outside but inside i think is the perfect compromise without destroying the phone's look or putting fiddly covers) can give you more memory and is even advised to be used as the storage rather than whats given internally. I doubt the internal 4 gig ROM can't be used though. The question is Sprit giving us an 8,16,32 gb card? And this could determine the price too.

Well my camera is all scratched up. So is everyone else's on my family plan. Looks like that will be an even bigger problem on the Evo 3D.

Whether the "accessories" are included for free or not is irrelevant. I don't want to have to use an extra dongle/case/whatever in order to get the same functionality that I have today on my OG Evo.

And there have been plenty of times I got a new phone and my old docks and other "accessories" worked just fine. Especially going from HTC to a newer HTC phone. Just about every HTC phone for the last 6 or 7 years has had the USB port at the bottom. I was kind of bummed when the Evo switched from mini USB to micro USB, meaning I had to buy all new cables. But at least all my docks still worked, just had to change out the cables/connectors. But now they are totally changing everything. The docks won't work, and my HDMI cables won't work either.

It's pretty lame. Add in the fact that it doesn't have a kickstand (unless you buy an "accessory") and it's enough to make me skip this device.

Hopefully Sprint gets the Atrix.

Don't know where you're getting your info from, but hopefully not from BlueScreen. The phone does not come with 4 GB of of ROM, only 1 GB. Info can be found on HTC's site. Again, there are also no indications that the ROM can be used as RAM. Please see my earlier post.
