I'm getting tired of buying and returning crappy headsets.

Tried Skullcandy ink'd, Klipsch S4 and other cheap headsets. All have major shortcomings.

Most of the time the mic was performing poorly and that's the most important thing for me is to have a good sounding mic.

I would like to get the Bose MIE2, I tested them and was very happy, but at $130 just too expensive.

Which head sets do you use and are you happy with them?

I am a huge fan of V-Mods headphones. Best sounding headphones for the price. I have the LP2 headphones, but I need them for playing bass guitar. For over ear, the Crossfade LP (original) will do fine. For ear buds, Bass Freq
 
Klipsch S4A aren't cheap ($100) unless your a baller. I alternate between those and my Beats Solos.
 
I love my Klipsch Image S4As. Great sound and the mic is great. Logitech's Ultimate Ears brand is also very good. I am not sure if they have headsets for Android phones, but they last forever.
 
Bose QuietComfort 15 Noise Cancelling, but then as one of only a couple of foreigners in town, they consider me to be a baller. :D They're over the ear, I can't use IEMs, they never stay in properly. And ordinary earbuds just don't have enough bass in them for my ears.
 
I use the Apple earpods. :eek:
They're quite comfortable, and I could never get IE ones to fit right. I've never used the mic on it, but obviously lots of folks do with their iPhones so it must be at least decent. And at only $30 it's not that big of a deal if I lose them or they break.
 
I use the good old Plantronics Voyager 510 for phone call duties and Motorola S-11 Flex HD for stereo music duties (though they have a Mic for phone calls too but I haven't tried it out).

I see where you're coming from but the wife is looking for in-ear with noise reduction (not noise cancelling) not just earpods.

We ordered a couple headsets on Amazon which were really great but they both just died on us within one year (static noise, mic died). They were super cheap but mic performance was awesome.

Now with every mic, we have to hold the mic to the mouth so the other party can understand us - just ridiculous.

My wife only wears in-ear with the gels. She works out with them and doesn't complain about them falling out or anything.

Only these kind of in ear (unless you pay $150 I believe) sets deliver very good bass performance and shut out a lot of the surrounding noise.

IMO Bose are one of the best, not exactly cheap though. :D I bought the QuietComfort 15 noise cancelling 'phones last month. And they are the best pair of cans I've had in my life, especially when I'm on planes, trains and buses. Totally kills all the low frequency and other ambient noises. They have an in-line mic as well, so good for phone calls.

I agree on the Bose. Very good headsets. I did try the Quiet Comfort ones and once you try those you don't want to use another one :p.

There too expensive for me though...

Every time I go on a plane, can usually tell who are the frequent flyers, they're the ones with the Bose noise cancelling headphones. And not using earbuds or those dreadful airline things. I do have an airline adapter plug as well. :) Even if you're not listening to anything, they're still much better than shoving earplugs in IMO when trying to catch some zzzzzzzzz.

BTW I did fly on an Airbus A380 recently(Hong Kong to London via Malaysia), and that is actually a really quiet plane, well apart from the usual screaming babies.

I understand that as a frequent flyer it makes sense to invest into noise cancelling headset.

Wish I was a frequent flyer...
