Root what HTC Inspire Flashed Rom do you use?

Hope this isn't a duplicate thread, sorry if it is.
I'm curious what everyone's thought is on the best ROM for the inspire. Bout to flash mine, but there are SO MANY I don't know where to begin.

I dig the Sense touch and feel, but I'm looking for some good animations and the abilities to tweak the looks and feel as much as I'd like. Any thoughts?
Thanks for your time.

Currently using ARevHD 6.1.3 and really like it. Used HoneyWonder3d 2.0 before that and it was also good, but I like the current one better.

My focus is performance so it may not be the rom for you but i really have grown to love cyanogen mod 7.1. I have tried several roms that use sense and i do like the sense interface. I wanted to be able to do things like connect to wiimote for gaming tho and it just wont work with sense. took a little getting used to the cm7 interface but there is no comparison to how it makes my phone perform for gaming and overall speed. I found that it is actually easier to use too. the other thing that i noticed is that it is solid as a rock too. all of the sense roms i used caused my phone to randomly go into a boot loop but cm7 has not done it once. love this rom and sticking with it. :)

That's what I want to avoid. Any kind of issues. I don't want all the problems I read about. I just want the speed it was built for and an overall beautiful experience... seriously.
I've ran other launchers... they all suck! every single one is shaky in it's own right and that's what I want to avoid. The standard stock ROM works...but since upgrading to GB.. my battery life is absent... I'm constantly charging... so yeah... with all that being said... Looks like CM7 is the go head right now...

CM7 all day.....i even have the CPU overclocked to hell and it still wont boot loop...CM is SOLID...i havent found a way to crash it yet..and i F*** around all day long with it. I wont go back to any other rom. Waiting for them to release a ICS version. My buddy just got it on his EVO and its awesome.

CM7, (7.03 stable -> 7.1 rc -> 7.1 stable) never tried anything else except for just a few hours to see what it was like. (miui and virtuous.)

Reasons you need cm7:

Deny any permission to any app. Is there a valid reason for an xvid player to need internet and gps permissions? HTFN! take them away!.

CM Theming engine. make it look like ics if you want. (I think mine looks better than sense with roboto font + cm ics theme + go launcher ics theme. http://www.imgur.com/INtrX.jpg )

CRT screen off animation, this is so cool, a standard GB feature but htc and everyone else takes it out.

Apps explode/implode onto/off of the screen. Another little effect I think is standard but removed by htc.

Edge glow. When you scroll up and down a menu, email inbox, general text display etc, it has a fiery glow when it hits the bottom or top. Yet another cool android thing removed by htc.

long press vol up or down to change songs.

launch apps from lockscreen by drawing a letter on the lockscreen.
all sorts of other lockscreen things.

Power control widget in the notification. yeah all stock roms have this (theirs aren't customizable) but it's not an aosp feature, nice they added it in.

Blinking notification led actually works.

Use your phone upside down!

You can have voice calls come in as a notification if the screen is on, it'll stop your mom's incoming call from making you fail to get the power up and win the game!

Kill a misbehaving foreground app with long press back.

All kinds of settings you can change for auto backlight.

Renderfx. hooks into the video driver. With a click of a widget you can make your display look like a greenscreen terminal or all red for night mode, keep your night vision and be less easily spotted by snipers as you get the power up and win the game.

Netflix works on it! And they actually released an update to address issues with CM a prev update caused, they f'n care about us! (I think I've heard it doesn't work on some 3rd party roms, I could be wrong)

Only weird thing with CM I've discovered is you have to install flash player 10.2 and never install flash from the market if you want all flash sites to work.

Oh and there's a tiny bug with navigation. Any time you start it up you have to let it lock on to gps, after that you need to turn gps off then back on (with nav still open). If you don't cycle gps on/off one time it will lose the gps lock within 5 mins or so and not get it back. It will keep the lock (even with nav running background) as long as you do this when you start it up.

I installed Absolution over the weekend. Been getting insane battery life. After flashing and spending all the time setting it up and customizing and hitting every menu to see what it can do, and getting my angry birds fix, I still got well over 30 hours out of one charge, with about 7 hours of display-on time. With the stock ROM I would be lucky to get 4.5 hours display-on time. And overall it's very smooth.

However, I do find myself missing some of the Sense stuff. I prefer the Sense People app and Dialer. I can't seem to change the date format of birthdays in the CM7 Contacts. Can't even edit the birthday from within Contacts. The in-call screen appears kinda flat. The buttons just don't pop and I guess I got used to the bigger contact photo in Sense. All mostly cosmetic stuff that I'll try to get used to.

And unfortunately, of the two custom ROMs I've tried so far, neither has given me the same internet speed that I was getting with the stock ROM. With stock I was consistently getting speedtest results in the 650-700kB/s range. CoreDroid they were down to 350kB/s. With Absolution I'm getting between 475-550kB/s. Gonna try Android Revolution next and see what kind of performance I can get with that. Saw a thread over on xda for custom sense 3.0 lockrings and came up with something I'd love to use.

Gotta be honest... all the technical talk is confusing the isht out of me... LOL :D

BUT... all the things that John pointed out sound AWESOME!!!... however I doubt I'll be able to set my phone up that way cuz I wouldn't know where to start after flashing the ROM. Matter of fact... haven't done the ROM yet either... cuz ... well, like a newborn child fresh out the womb... I'm confused & Scared! lol

But thank you for your input guys... Sharksfan... I think I'm gonna miss the same stuff you're missing from Sense... but...we'll see. If I brick my phone, I'll post a video of shooting myself in the foot.

Yeah it can be a bit confusing. I was rooted for a month before I flashed a rom. So many to choose from and hard to really tell the difference. You just need to do it and flash something. Spend time hammering through all the menus for everything to see what your options are. Then just use it as you normally would and make it work for you. If you don't like it, pick a different one and flash that. Most important thing, make a nandroid backup of your current setup. If something goes wrong you can always revert back to what you know works for you.

Dude I honestly felt that same way, was scared to root, but I finally got enough courage to do it by just following this video step by step

YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.

Trust me when I say this watch this video and you will not have a problem. It is the video , I watched and after it was all done I was completely rooted flashing a custom ROM.

Absolution is pretty good I gotta say. I flashed it as soon as I saw it on xda. It is fast but I was getting way worse battery life compared to stock cm7.1. I went with talon kernel version. Idk if that is why or if I was just playing with it to much. It did reboot out of the blue one time while on conservative governor and not o/c. Made a backup and flashed a cm7 backup. I might give absolution another shot tho. Posted best benchmarks I have ever seen on my phone with it.

Your video link is just youtube mobile... doesn't have anything about rooting or flashing a ROM

Ok! I'm finally rooted into android revolution HD. Awesome... Here's my next question.
I started looking at boot animations, flashed one or 2 and I noticed that they don't have any sound to them. Anyone got any ideas why?
Thanks.

Not all boot animations include sound.

that was easy enough. LOL.

Ok... anyone seen any amazing boot animations that they'd like to suggest? I flashed one just out of random luck and it's a little annoying. I don't have epilepsy but I felt like I was gonna go into an epileptic episode when watching it.... weird.

I personally use the galaxy nexus boot animation.

Check the sig.

why? I hear the Runnymix or whatever has a few issues. Any problems with the HD camera and playback? I take a BOAT LOAD OF PICS of my kids... video as well and I don't want any speaker issues or sound problems when making a phone call. If everythings solid I'll try it... BUT, I just don't want issues.

I used it, and didn't have any problems...i wasn't fond of the way the internet browser worked, and that was my reason for not sticking with it.

But here's the deal...if you're rooted, just give it a try...you have nothing to lose, and if you don't like it use something you backed up...

when i first rooted my phone, i flashed all kinds of ROM's...2-3 a week...sometimes a day. Its not gonna screw up your phone or anything bad...just try some stuff out and see what you like...thats honestly the fun. My wife accused me of having an affair with my phone, and I have never been a super techy kinda guy...take a deep breath and enjoy it...just my opinion
