Three phones later a particular contact has been saved Appeared long ago when I asked a friend to fix an issue with my phone. Have since found out she was not much of a friend. What is star 8552? And why would she use these numbers or code on my phone?

I have absolutely no idea! Never heard of it, nor do I know what it might do.

But I can't help asking: why don't you delete it?

yeah it is an unsual number. at first i thought it might be a msl code. but there is not one with that number.....so i have no clue what it is.

......sorry, but i agree with @MoodyBlues , just delete it.

Phones often record ALL digits while there is an active call so it might be a combination of key presses. *85 is the common "Disable Caller ID" command and 5 + 2 might have been prompted confirmations for your particular carrier (for example "Press 5 to confirm caller ID disable" and then Press 2 to exit the system.)

Have you tried dialing it?
