What is the best camera app for the Incredible?

Having a good camera is one of the reasons why I decided to go with the Incredible. It's pretty much a must for all the phone purchases I make because I take a lot of pictures, but never carry my actual camera around.

As someone who is really anal about photography how do you like the incredible camera? I dont have mine yet but Im excited to have that 8mp camera with me at all times to be able to take more pictures. I know it probably isnt a replacement for even a normal point a shoot camera but how do you like it so far? Just curious.

I might be a tad OCD about it, but I still keep things into perspective. While 8mp is good, its still always held back by the fact that the lens is small and there hasn't been an app yet that has true image stabilization. There are those out there that won't take pictures if you're moving around too much, but from what I understand, that's using the camera's internal accelerometer instead of doing some kind of image averaging, adjustments, etc to help image clarity. I don't fully understand the internals, but thats the general gist from what I've read and tested myself.

As far as having a device on me at all times.. I really like the camera. Its not realistic to think I'll always have a full-fledged camera on me. I like to take random photos, but I am nowhere close to being a real photographer.

I've moved the test photos to the original post for easier viewing for newcomers

Great. Thanks for the pictures. That filter on vingette looks pretty nice!

Yup, exactly the reason why I prefer Vignette over most the other camera apps. Instead of barraging you with numbers of gaudy-looking filters, you get some very solid ones that actually enhance pictures. They work especially well with photos that normally are bad due to poor lighting or its just not a good picture day for the subject you're taking a picture of (ie, hiding their blemishes, etc).

I am a big fan of the filters on Vignette - they come out very well. Nice touch with the soft focus, film effects, etc.

However, I am still going to side with Camera ZOOM FX purely on giving me more of what I want in a camera. Generally I take outdoors pictures so fancy filters aren't too much of an issue for me and only seem to lose resolution whichever app I use.

With Camera ZOOM FX I can customize every hardware button and gestures to perform specific actions, e.g. I can set volume button to take picture, swipe left to change to a different filter, swipe right for a different border, etc.

I also like its stable shot meter which waits for the right moment to take the picture - it seems to reduce the amount of blurring.

But the biggest decider for me is the user interface. Camera ZOOM gives me every camera option I could want with just 2 clicks and very fast navigation.

Each to their own I guess but I think Camera ZOOM just has the edge at the moment.

Whats the best app for panorama shots, i miss my omnia camera for this very purpose.

Unfortunately, I haven't found a really good one yet.. shame its not built into the default camera app. My girlfriend's lowly Samsung Reality and my old EnV Touch even came with one. There are 2 average rated ones on the market right now, Photostitch and Andropan - both are free so you can test em out see how you like em.

As far as Camera Zoom FX, glad to hear that others had a better experience with it. As I mentioned, for whatever reason, it crashed on me a few times within the 2 hours of testing. While I do appreciate how many effects there are on Camera Zoom FX, and new ones coming out almost weekly, I found atleast 90% of them to be more in the cheesy/fun category. Despite having the "stabilizer" for shots (it only prevents you from taking unstabilized vs actually stabilizing shots - still a good feature though), I still found the default camera to take clearer pics when it came to taking unedited pictures - but I'm sure much of it is because I'm more accustomed to the default and having the option to spot meter helps alot for portraits.

Perhaps I'll revisit Camera Zoom FX some day, as I hear like Vignette, they're always updating as well. The more options, the better and its good to hear that there are so many viable options for us. Admittedly, I didn't explore the hotkey functions of Camera Zoom FX, I just found the other apps to have a more straight-forward menu system instead of having to go through graphical panes.

Before and after shots.

This is a photo my desk+cup taken with average metering on default camera:

Vignette and Camera ZOOM FX are the best 2. Vignette for the HD effect pics (although still very slow to process and upload) and Camera ZOOM just for giving the most enhancements like voice activation, burst mode, stabiliser, overlays, etc. etc.

Would recommend them both!

Don't know if you are still around gorenut, but you mentioned you wanted to do HDR. Camera360 offers that option. You have to get the main app plus the addons. All free by the way.

does Vignette or Camera ZOOM FX have a setting to add Time stamp on picture? Like the stock Camera on The DINC, I like the MIUI Rom but I would like my Picture's to have a Time Stamp
