Root What is the Best & Most Recent Root Method?

What is the Best & Most Recent Root Method for my T-Mobile MyTouch 3g? I have the Android 1.6 operating system. I am hoping to use the cyanogen rom, unless there is a better rom available?

The best way to root and use a custom ROM will always be the one-click method. To root follow this tutorial. Since you are running 1.6, ensure you downgrade to 1.5 first (files provided on that page).

Immediately afterward, you'll want to follow these instructions to get Cyanogen on your phone.

Its an amazing walk through! But this only works for Regular Mytouch v1.0, not Mytouch Fender Edition, and I would wait for confirmation on the Mytouch v1.2 root and whether or not the same method will apply. It should, but you never know.
