Root What is the best Rom/Is it worth flashing?

j0ckinjz

Lurker
Ok, so I have a rooted Evo with stock Rom and I was wondering if it is worth all the trouble to flash a custom rom. The only rom I have heard of really is Fresh. And then there are custom kernels too. Is there a rom/kernel that is really better than stock that I should upgrade too? And what is the best way of backing up all my apps.

myn's warm 2.2 rl3/Kings Kernel #11/ with the battery tweak is what I use..
I'm a light to moderate user and get almost 2 days of battery

Titanium backup is whats good to backup your apps

or sync with appbrain is what I do

I also use Myn's Warm TwoPointTwo RLS3. King's Kernel #11 sucked for me.
Warm 2.2 RLS3 is awesome! Definitely worth it to check it out.

You can use RomManager to download roms and install them easily.

Use this thread to install roms. Remember, nandroid backups are your best friend!!!!

I also use Titanium Backup to backup my apps. He explains what to do in that thread as well.

K, thanks, I think I am going to install myn's and try that out. Are there any free back up apps, I already sync all my apps with appbrain, so should that be good enough?

It all depends on how easy you want it to be. The biggest advantage of the paid version of Titanium Backup is that is restores your phone to EXACTLY what it was before you wiped your phone.....not only does it restore your apps with one push of a button, but it restores your homescreens to exactly like you had them. Very worth the money if you plan on flashing ROMs on a semi regular basis.

Ok so I flashed warm twopointtwo with kernel #11 and I get a fuzzy screen now, like flickering. I am going to try with different options, maybe not select kernel 11. Also, if I install with with launcherpro, will I lose sense?

edit: reflashed without #11 and it works fine now.
