Help what is the clipboard for?

The button on the right of space bar is clipboard I presume, but what do you use it for. When I click on it it just has loads of screenshots that the kids have saved. Why do they go to your clipboard, what else can you use it for, is it of any real use, and what do others use their clipboard for???
I just cant make any sense of how it can be useful.

Web addresses or text that you want to copy from a website is stored there until you paste "it" into the desired place. It should delete older stuff when it reaches the set max Mb stored but some reports claimed that with the update from ICS to JB something went haywire and the clipboard fill up.

Everything that anyone "copy" on the tab ends up on the clipboard. Short of rooting, I do not think you can change that setting

Yep, I've encountered this. What happens is that the tablet will reboot when you copy something to the clipboard and you've hit the max threshold. At this point, the only solution is to edit the clipboard and start deleting stuff, until it fills up again. :/

And screen prints count, too.

Do you know of an easy way of cleaning the clipboard cache? Had a look at some of the chipboard "tools" on Playstore but they all seem curiously quiet on cleaning out that cache

Sorry, but no. When I originally researched the issue online I didn't see any recommendations. And apparently it affects a range of Samsung products. I haven't checked Play. I just manually delete the clipboard when it happens. Panicked the first couple times it happened until I figured it out.

Yip, same here. Got a fright first time round as well. Now the clipboard is the only reason why I still keep the Samsung keyboard enabled.

Thanks
