Root What is the most updated ROM for 1.1-3588 ?

Sep 2, 2011
I have Vegan-Tab Ginger 7.1 on my old gtablet. It's been collecting dust for awhile now but my son is hoping to use it primarily to serve the net, play games, watch You Tube, netflix and maybe some videos. When he tries to watch YouTube, he's getting a message saying his flash player needs to be updated, but I have no idea how to do it. I was hoping to install the latest and greatest ROM since it's been so long.

I'm just wondering if there is a better ROM for what he is looking to do. If not, how do I go about updating the flash player? When we use the actual You Tube app, the screen is black but we can hear the sound. When we go to You Tube through the browser, we get the message about the flash player. I have to admit, I only played with it briefly yesterday so I'm hoping my details are all correct! I figured I'd start with this message in the hope that someone can point me in the right direction!

Thanks :)
I was using CM7 for a while but after fixing my broken charging port issue it hasn't been working the same. A lot of the old apps I had won't work anymore so I don't know what the issue is. Also I have been trying to load movies onto my Gtab as a distraction for my two year old in the car while on trips. CM7 will not play movies on my Gtab (MP4, h.264 encoding). I *believe* (PLEASE correct me if I'm wrong) CM7 uses ADWLauncher and Play store now tells me that's not compatible with my device any longer. That may be part of the issue?

Just yesterday I loaded Vegan Tab Version 1.0.0B5.1 (I think an outdated ROM - I'll try an upgrade later) and this thing was pretty badass. The tablet was pretty snappy and things were working much better overall - however I was still having issues with some of the old apps I had before I did the charging port fix. (Tablet was OOC for a few months so it might just be an issue of apps updating over time.) Still could not get videos to run and Apex Launcher and ADWLauncher were both unavailable for my tablet. GoLauncher was running pretty darn good though. This ROM did not appear to have support for my 32Gb micro sd card. Looking in Settings>SDcard it says something 1.7Gb available but ROM Toolbox Pro shows 27Gb available. Weird.

I did a backup of that and loaded Calkulin's G-Tab today and I really like a lot of the things that dev has done - especially with the Settings screens. A MUCH better use of available real estate than I have seen other dev's do so far. However, I have been having some issues with this ROM as well. I'm getting the sleep of death today - every time it goes to sleep it won't wake up unless I reboot it and I can't change my keyboard to Thumb Keyboard 4 (a paid app and I'd really like to use that over all the other keyboards I've seen so far - although the stock one isn't bad it's not as good as TK4). Also when I turn on USB Storage my laptop will NOT see my micro SDcard. This ROM has no notification bar that you can pull down. HOWEVER - my movies appear to playing so far in MXPlayer, Mobo Player AND Real Player! Calkulin uses Launcher Pro as their stock launcher and I'm very familiar with this - I actually purchased the full version from Federico years ago and I'm thinking about trying out some of the available expansions like LPP FTL. Well I would think about trying it if weren't for this sleep of death - this ROM won't work for me. :(

All in all I think I'm going to continue playing around until I find something where everything works as expected.

EDIT: My movies now appear to be playing in the Vegan Gtab Edition for MXPlayer, MoboPlayer and Real player, sweet!

Alright, this is starting to get really weird. I was just playing the movies off my external sd card (SDCard2) and I verified the space available was 27Gb. I just pushed another ROM zip file to my tablet and now the movies disappeared??! What is up with that?? I'm confused.
