Root What is the newest android i can run on this?

I just bought one off ebay as a cheap replacement to my broken phone. It says it runs stock Gingerbread. Is there any chance of me getting this at least to Jellybean?

With 512MB of RAM, if you can find a JB ROM for it, it'll probably run as slow as molasses in a freezer.

USE GINGERSTEAM extreme II one of the best roms on that device. YES you CAN run Jelly bean. But it's not fully ported over. and I'm not sure if the developer gave up on the port or not. It was PlayfulGod I think working on it.
check out the CM10 port for the LG esteem.

just checked my thread asking about CM10 and learned that sadly PlayfullGod threw in the towel on JB for the esteem..
I can tell you it ran GREAT.. smooth, and didn't freeze or lag... BUT it had no radios.
He was able to get Wifi to work.. but that was all... no data from cell network radios.
