what is the web browser for your smart phone?

i am really confused for which web browser to choose for my Eris.
My friends have recommended me the top six, list as Firefox mobile, Safari, Skyfire, Dolphin browser mini, Dolphin browser HD and Opera mini.
I really want to install a perfect one.

Safari? For the Eris? There really is one of those?

My favorite these days is Miren Browser. It's very fast, quick to load, not huge, and full-screen by default. xScope was a favorite a while ago but I haven't used that one in a while. I'm not sure about perfect, but it's really good.

I don't like the mini browsers because the companies that provide them cache the results and then send the screens to you - in other words, they load your web pages for you on their servers and then just send you the screen shots. Opera I trust - I'm not sure that I trust Skyfire or whoever runs Dolphin. Particularly for web sites for which I log in.

xScope here. The developers seem to have abandoned it but I still like it. I don't remember why I uninstalled Miren but I didn't like it.
 
Is there anything wrong with the stock browser on the Eris? I'll admit I probably don't use it as much as I could or as often as others, but it hasn't refused to do anything I've asked of it so far.

Nothing too much, but it is slow compared with others, plus browser cache is stored internally rather than on SD, IIRC.
 
I actually went and looked at Miren after reading your post; I may be wary enough to ask questions, but I don't think you've ever gone out of your way to steer anybody wrong so far as I can tell. ;) I may just have to go install it in a moment and give it a go for the next week.

On stock, cache is always on the internal memory.

I prefer the stock one, because I don't like many of the others, except Opera Mobile, but you can't multitask with it properly. The stock one in my experience will let you browse, send a quick text message, than go back to browsing.

Didn't really like xScope when I tried it awhile back. That's why. The thing is, everything is better about Opera Mobile than most of the other browsers I used. I loved it in Symbian, and I love it in Android. But that multitasking thing is really annoying.

It's not just that - after rooting the phone and trying to stock browser on Froyo and Gingerbread ROMs, the stock HTC browser on the Eris with 2.1 is noticeably slower. I notice the same thing on stock if I run Miren (or xScope, though I haven't used that in a while) vs. stock.
 
Well that's a huge deal breaker. Multi-touch doesn't work in Miren? I looked in the settings and couldn't find anything that dealt with it, and it definitely didn't work for me while browsing. All that seemed to worked was double-tap to zoom.
