Help What is this program that just decided to upload my photos and videos????

I use Dropbox to upload ALL of my photos/videos taken with my Note3 or ones downloaded from various websites. All of a sudden today, a program called Photos opened up and it showed that "Auto Backup" was set and there was a progress bar showing that it was backing everything up. I never installed a program to do this or gave it permission to do so.

1. What is this program?
2. Where is it backing up my photos/videos?
3. Is it backing anything else up?

It's picassa. You must have auto upload set on Google +. or indeed another Google service.

Picasa is integrated into the Android operating system and accessed through the Settings menu and is automatically on when you add a Google account to your phone. This uploads many of your photos to your Picasa Web Albums where you can access them on a computer or phone at https://picasaweb.google.com

The Auto Backup feature available by clicking the menu button when you install the Google+ application also uploads many of your photos to your Picasa Web Albums where you can access them on a computer or phone at https://picasaweb.google.com.

1.To disable Picasa which is integrated into your Android device you will need to click the menu button on your Android device and click the "Settings" menu option then you will be taken to a new window with a new set of options.

2.At the top right of the screen click on the option labelled "General", to which the set of options below will change, and one of the options will be labelled "Accounts".

3. There will now be a list of all of your Gmail accounts shown on the screen to which you have to pick one and click on the name of the Gmail account where you will then be taken to a new set of options with the label "Sync" by each of the options.

4. Scroll down the list and untick / uncheck the option labelled "Sync Picasa Web Albums" to deactivate the auto-upload of your pictures to Picasa Web Albums.

Google+ Auto Upload deactivation -

1.To deactivate the auto-upload of your pictures when you install Google+, open the program and press the menu button on your Android device and choose the "Settings" menu option that appears.

2.Then notice the option at the top of the screen which is labelled "Auto-Backup", and to the right of this label is a blue box with the word "On" in the middle.

3. Click on that blue box so that is turns to gray and says "Off".

4. Done

If you have more than one Gmail account on your phone you have to repeat this process for each Gmail account in your Settings and in Google+.

This is useful if you have a limited data plan with your mobile network operator.

For people who have chosen not to install Google Drive or Google+ or don't have those applications pre-installed but still want to sync their photos to their online Web Albums or to keep safe there is Picasa sync options built in to Android.

Yes the option is built in the Google account automatic and its a app in the play store if u want to disable the sync just go into the Google account area and disable it
