Help What is this strange icon in the notification bar?

I want to raise an issue that I have been observing on my Note II. Whenever I am checking active applications by pressing and holding Home button, I always find Google Play Music there. Although I never open that application ever, I always find it amongst active applications on my phone. Everytime I notice it, I close it by pressing End button but whenever I check it again, I find it mysteriously sitting there amongst active applications. Sometimes, I have even restarted my phone but it will be there after a while.
I have tried uninstalling it but it cannot be done. I have a feeling whether its always there snooping what I am doing. May be Google's way of studying users habits in a surrepetitious manner by a music application so as not to arouse any suscpicion ? I dont know.

Yeah, Google Music app was giving this issue too. I just disabled the app as I don't use it too. Problem solved for me.
 
I get that dimmed circle icon too on my phone, specifically when I'm using (opened) Twister alarm clock app.
If u have the twister alarm clock face playing and dimmed, you'll see that icon pop up in the corner.
