What is YOUR desktop/laptop brand and specs?

I'm assuming most people have at least one computer in the house.
And these smartphones are like mini computers too.

Mine? My two desktops are two years old. Use notebooks anymore.
We have four... one Apple, one Samsung, two Lenovo's.
My best notebook specs are:

Lenovo ThinkPad W520 4270 - 15.6" - 1920 x 1080 full HD screen - Core i7 2620M - 16GB DDR3 Memory - 246GB SSD - 500GB 7200rpm HDD - NVIDIA Quadro 1000M with 2GB DDR3 memoryy / Intel HD Graphics - Optical Drive Type: DVD-Writer in caddy - 9 cell battery@ 7-9 hours - Windows 7 Pro 64-bit -WEI 6.7 score

Two of my notebooks in this pic:

OS: Ubuntu 14.04 LTS 64 bit --> to be changed to KDE/Kubuntu upon arrival
Processor: 4th Generation Intel

I've always built my own computers since my i286 days. Right now I'm still using a homebuilt box I put together 3-4 years ago. I've built many boxes for me, friends, family and my business mostly using these brands and reliability has been excellent. Motherboard, video card, 22" screen are all Asus parts, AMD CPU, Western Digital HD, Cosair power and memory. Been using the same case for maybe 8-10years. I just keep changing the stuff inside. It's nothing special at all, but I'm not a gamer and it still gets the job done so I'll probably not rebuild it again for another year or two.

But...it's now running Fedora 20. Maybe when it's time to update Linux again I'll do a whole new mini PC with a SSD instead of the old spinning disk and some other 21st century hardware. We'll see.

My wife has a all-in-one Asus PC running Windows 7 Pro I bought for her last year. I wanted to keep hers as simple as possible, hence the all-in-one, and unfortunately she has to have Windows for her business.

Too many computers and i forget most of the specs (Linux, specs don't matter)

But i'll try:

Laptop #1 (older) Dell Latitude D610, battery reached max charge count so it's doing the infamous 1-3-5 error, so mobility is gone, it's used as a desktop at home. Mandriva Linux 2010, PCMCIA card slot, irDA blaster, 56K Modem, wifi ethernet, 200GB hard drive (obviously not factory) 1GB RAM (also been upgraded) don't know CPU details or speed

Laptop #2 Toshiba Satellite, first to launch with Windows 8, promptly blown away and now running Kubuntu 14.10. 250GB Hard drive, 2GB RAM, 15" 1280x800 resolution display. battery still works. used on the go.

Laptop #3 Acer C720 Chromebook. Not much a Google fan, but it's cheap, used where i would not want to take a more expensive machine, nature walks, deer parks, etc.

Laptop #4 HP Pavilion 2-in-one. used mainly for games. ultra-portable, can turn into a tablet, has a touchscreen. no CD drive (who makes a computer these days without one?! WTF HP!) so can't blow away Windows and use Linux. need a disc drive!

Laptop #5 FREE to me, Toshiba Satellite Pro Pentium 133MHz, 32MB RAM, 150MB Hard disk. trying to find a ISO of FreeDOS and setting it up for DOS gaming. Not sure how, but the NiMH battery still holds a charge for an hour.

What I really like about my laptop is that it doesn't have a DVD drive. Less bulk and more battery life. I have a 3TB network drive as backup and these days, Linux holds no interest for me anymore. I could install Linux, just by booting off a USB or SD card and installing from there

Not having a disc drive when most software still requires one (not everyone is blessed with dedicated high speed internet or the 'cloud' just yet) and needing an external one seems a regression to the days when one needed a external floppy drive and even then it was only a limit on ultra portables or 'subnotebooks' as they were referred to. Until software is mass produced on SD cards i don't see the point in ditching the disc drive yet. there are still reasons to have a CD writer too. not being forced to use Windows is also nice.

My Satellite Pro has an external CD drive too. that was a normal thing--in 1994!

The Dell Latitude CP-series answered your concern well during its time. you could use the same bay that was normally occupied with a CD ROM drive for a spare battery or hard disk, since you could eject devices and exchange them. Quite frankly, i don't understand why that innovation died off...sure beats carrying or losing an external component.
