What it feels like to lose weight?

I stop drinking sugary sodas years ago and never looked back. Everytime I see someone drinking a normal soda i just want to ask them why?

Kudos to anyone that has or is working at losing weight. It is a constant battle between the love of food and drink and the ideal healthy weight. It's nothing but work and I admire anyone working at it. Food and drink are engineered to entice and for the most part are unhealthy.

I haven't had a soda since the early seventies. I quit drinking my tea with sugar. It's been so long ago that I now deplore any sort of sweet beverage.

I was probably in my teens when I was around 200 lbs. My highest was over 400 lbs over 25 years ago. Slowly, but surely I broke the 250 lb threshold, this year.
I've had OSA since before I retired, Chief. The sleep DR has been pleased with my progress over the years too. My GP has me taking my blood pressure nightly. He's more concerned about my diabetes ATM. I have a sore on one of my bunions and even when my diabetic shoes it rubs and doesn't want to heal.
It's been 27 years since I had my first hip surgery, so my days of too much walking are long gone.

But, ol' Grumpy is still kicking. Just not very high.

Yeah Diabetes is no laughing matter.

So I re weigh myself today after a shower
198!!!! :D :) :thumbsupdroid::cool:. I think according government standards for my height (6'1) I should be at 165-170.:rolleyes: I am shooting for 180-185:thumbsupdroid:
Mine is 191..
How the heck am I supposed to lose more weight?

My doctor said that I should feel a lot better that I'd lost all of my weight. I just told him that the damage had been done.

Couple months ago, the Boss Lady had ordered some dog food, cat food and cat litter. Here I am pulling our 7cf yard wagon across the yard when it dawned on me that I was pulling (with some degree of difficulty) something near to the total weight that I've lost.

My weight loss towards the end of 2025 was to be at 200 pounds, I think I was at 210-212 when I made the goal.
December 31st i was 191:D:thumbsupdroid:
Last time I weighed myself about a week or two ago. I was 185.

My weight has been all over the place, i got back to almost 200 and then lost ten pounds in a week (cold, flu, food poisoning) then for while I was at 195 couldn't drop any weight, this morning I am down to 182.

I'm trying to shed my winter hibernation fat. I always gain a few pounds across the winter with the idleness the cold weather creates. This year it was over ten pounds and I'm finding it alarmingly difficult to work it off.

I am trying to hit 179 and can't get to it o_O:maddroid:. I can hit 180 seven ways to Sunday, but not 179. Once I hit 179 I'll be happy with my weight loss goals

I've been all over the map since my 30s, which was a LONG time ago. I got up to about 240 in 2001 (40+) and after a bout of diverticulitis, I pretty quickly got down to 210. Years passed and I started slowly gaining again; when I got married (2018) I was 250+, heaviest I'd ever been, but then made a few lifestyle changes starting the next year and shed a bunch. Today I'm a shade under 200 and have been for some time, but I feel sort of like Pitcarver, that the damage has been done. I don't feel any better than I did when fat, arthritis and asthma and inflammation and nerve issues in my feet have hit pretty hard. What I usually say, as humor, is that I didn't think I'd be this old at this age. ;)
A week from now I'm having knee replacement surgery on my right knee, but in truth my left is just as bad, if not worse. (Both are stage 4+ arthritis.)
I think if you can lose it before 50, you're much better off. Losing it after that, it's already taken it's toll.
Or maybe I should try Joe's path and drop another 20 and see how things are. :)

Last Monday I was 207.1; this morning I'm 203.4. My goal is 165... but losing this visceral fat isn't easy as I age. My record low weight was 159 using the Atkins diet in 1997 - but a subsequent attempt with that diet didn't work at all. It's as if my body told me "nope, we're not doing that crap again". So it's a matter of a protein bar or shake for breakfast; a fairly hearty lunch; and little to no food in the evening. Plus walking a couple of miles on days when it's not raining.

I saw your daily menu. I normally eat only once a day, these days. It used to be that I could go to a buffet and would eat 2, or more, plates and still be hungry. I don't know why, but I don't have much of an appetite these days.
It would be great if I could get out and do any walking. I had both of my hips replaced, years ago, so that's not an option for me.
I'd like to be able to get rid of the left over belly fat too but compared to what I used to look like I can actually find clothes that fit these days.
