Root what kernel with stock rom

for sh*ts and giggles i flashed the newest rooted OTA. gonna run it for a day or 2 to get a feel for how things act, since i ve been running custom roms on it since i rooted.

thus far,ive not gotten into changing kernels around that much. even on my other phones, ive pretty much just always used the kernel the developer included with the rom, unless a particular combo came very highly reccomended.

as such,i have little "feel" for how different kernels affect things. i decided maybe trying different kernels on the stock rom would prolly give me a greater feel for how kernels change things since the developers tend to maximize their rom for their kernel.

so i figured id run it stock, then try some different kernels with it to see how things change. since bamf and tesla run well for me,definately try something from adrenalyn and drod.

any other recomendations? what do you like, and why?

goals are fast, smooth, and responsive phone. and of course battery life. ;)

thanks for your opinions

I'm on the new leaked RUU/ROM from 04/18, running stock Sense ROM. I am using Adrenalyne's 4.3b kernel overclocked to 1.2ghz on the smartass setting. It's running smooth, fast & responsive. I've only had 1 reboot in 1 month since using it. Battery is great.

I know the 4.3b is not the most current kernel, but it's working for me so I didn't update to one of his newer ones.

well i ran the OTA stock for today. i remember now why i rooted, lol. i was down to 13% battery when i left work  also had a random reboot in the middle of the day.

flashed drods 1.6 kernel a lil bit ago,and used setcpu to chose 230 min/1036 max and ive allready experienced a random reboot

ill give it tomoro and then move on to adrenalyns kernels :)

couldnt make it thru the day with drods 1.6... seems just a bit laggy and unresponsive, and getting just as crappy of battery life as stock.

moving on to adrenalynes cf 2.0 :)

cool, let me know how it works out for you.

the new Gingerbread ROM has also leaked today over at XDA... camera & weather widget not working though, so I haven't flashed it.

cf 2.0 was actualy working pretty good, and i was going try 4.4.7 tonite... but with the emergence of said leak my 2.2 kernel research has come to a screeching hault :D
