FYI....you have Swype listed twice in your poll.

I waffle between SwiftKey and Swype. Lately mostly SwiftKey. There is no third place to me.

Swype
Better swiping accuracy and decent predictions

SwiftKey
Better prediction and very good swiping accuracy. Better layout.

oops, thanks for pointing that out, i'll just add the votes up for both.

Perhaps not what you are looking for ... but hardware QWERTY keyboards are the best IMHO. Too bad that it is so hard to upgrade to a more modern phone, since most vendors have stopped making them.

(I use the stock keyboard app on my LG Optimus Slider to save memory, but rarely use the on-screen keyboard. I use Google keyboard on my Nook HD+ tablet, since its Swype-like keyboard is pretty good. But when I need to type something complicated on my tablet, I use the An2An keyboard app, which lets me type on my phone's keyboard but the characters appear on my tablet)

Was using Swiftkey on my previous phone, but with the current one I find I don't need it and just use the stock keyboard.

I have a copy of Kii (which lagged like crazy on the old phone, so I wanted to try it on hardware that can handle it) but haven't used it for more than a minute or so so far.

I use Swype in portrait as it is great for one-handed use. In landscape I use SwiftKey as I like the layout better and the text prediction is better when thumb typing.

Is anyone using MessagEase? I tried it, but it is just so radically different that I feel it would take me such a long time before I can get as proficient with it compared to traditional QWERTY layouts. My impression of MessagEase is that you rarely mistype a character because the buttons are so big and combined with gestures that you rarely ever miss the key you are aiming at. I really wanted to like MessagEase, but right now, I have better things to do with my time than learn how to type on a radically different keyboard even though I feel it can be superior to Swype and SwiftKey.

I used Flit, which is a similar concept to MessagEase.

I had a similar impression. I found it slow, though I imagine I could eventually get pretty quick at it. However, what really turned me off was its calibration. What I thought was a perfect diagonal gesture, it thought was a straight gesture. Recalibration is a feature only in the paid version and there's no way I'm willing to pay for it, since I was unable to become proficient.

Mostly I use the hardware qwerty on my Venture, tiny and awful as it is. I hope to upgrade to an LG Optimus Slider with a better-sized hardware qwerty (which looks like the LG Rumor2 slider's keyboard, with which I was happy). jae_63 recommended adding hardware qwerty to the poll and I agree.

Not listed in the poll but I like Hacker's Keyboard better than any others that I have tried. Use it on a 7" tablet -- maybe others are better on a phone...

I am not shocked that Swype and SwiftKey are running away with this poll so far.

But anyone else shocked to see that Swype has held a small but consistent lead over SwiftKey thus far?

I like both, but SwiftKey has ALWAYS been listed as the top paid app in the Play Store.

SwiftKey has been more practical (unless one-handed) and faster. Swype is way more fun to use. It's cool to show it off to people who have never seen gesture typing before.
