what keyboards are u guys using?

I was using SwiftKey for a while,..it's not bad but it didn't hold my interest for long.

HTC_IME is good if you are looking for a great standard type keyboard. HTC_IME allows you to customize the distance between the keys which is great for people like myself who tend to hit wrong keys often,...putting more gap between keys on the HTC_IME really helps with this.

Droid X keyboard is a nice standard keyboard as well and IMO beats out the Stock EVO keyboard. There's something about the Droid X keyboard that makes it feel really comfortable and accurate.


FInally, my current most used keyboard is Swype...it has it's flaws(like no speech to text and odd misspellings) but once you get use to it...it's really enjoyable to use and crazy fast. :)
 
I use smartkeyboard pro...by far my favorite... swype is cool but I don't think its perfect yet....

I can't get enough of my slideit keyboard. the voice text has literally never made a mistake with my voice. anyone else used it?
 
Another vote for Shapewriter. Defininitely think its better than Swype but to each his own. I don't get the appeal of the Droid X keyboard.
 
You might try "SlideIt". Available in the Market and works very much like "Swype" - in fact, I prefer SlideIt, which seems to accommodate for the eccentricities of my texting technique better than Swype...
 
O Hiawatha Better Keyboard ans love it. I would suggest it to anyone wanting to run a different keyboard.

I just tried it. It's nice. It has a very decent predictive text, and actually sometimes when using it i don't have to type like three words in a row because it predicts what my next word is going to be. That being said, it's still not swype and I love swype for one handed texting.

It most definitely will be my keyboard that I use when i'm doing long winded typing though.

Where as I use the droid x multi touch keyboard when i'm trying to smash out a bunch of words very fast. I like having multiple keyboards. It's nice. ^_^
 
I'm impressed with Swiftkey. I rarely use one-hand texting, so the swype style boards aren't for me. I used better keyboard for a while, and its nice to have droid x, but I think swiftkey will be the one I stick with for everything except banking/amazon/ebay.
 
try slideit
its just like shapewriter and swype
except when you go landscape the keyboard goes full screen (shapewriter doesnt)
and you can swype 2/3 shortcurts to make it automatically type long words
i love it
 
Won't use droid x kb only because no auto-cap and no auto-correct yet. I actually like those features.

The KB is the only thing I don't like about the Inc, or any android device. The iPhone has the predictive text thing down pat, they make the hit box bigger for the next anticipated letter. I have a 64gb touch and i fly typing on that.

Tried swype, swiftkey, and shapewriter...still want my itouch kb lol.

Have to check out smartkeyboard pro.
 
Is there anyway I can switch keyboards quickly? Like if I wanted to use different keyboards I could just tap which keyboard I wanna use in Settings?
 
the voice to text feature on this phone is amazing. if you could add capital letters to the beginning of sentences, it would be the perfect. i composed this entire message using voice to text with very little editing. the only thing is, you can't use it in public.

Long-press the text input field and choose input method. Any of the keyboards you have enabled previously in settings will show up there.

So if I do this method:
Install instructions
*If you have a previous version installed (modded or not) go to language & keyboards and uncheck Multi-touch keyboard.
*Next go to applications-mannage applications, scroll down to multi touch keyboard and click it. Then click uninstall
*(START HERE IF YOU HAVEN'T INSTALLED IT AT ALL) Next use a file manager to view your sd card. ( Astro, Root Explorer, Android Mate, etc......) Go to where you put it, (If you downloaded it from your phones browser it will be in sd/download. Confirmed with Stock Android browser and Dolphin HD browser) click it. Then click open app manager, then click install.
*Go to settings/Language & keyboard, check Multi-touch keyboard.
*Next go to any field where you can input text. hold down on the text field, and click input method. Select Multi-touch keyboard.

To install the DroidX keyboard, it would work? How about Apps downloaded that are different keyboards, your method of a long-press on the text input field would work?
