What method and is it worth it?

Hello... Again :)

I am looking at rooting my SGS2 and in the end will probably install the CyanogenMod ROM... custom ROM aside is it worth rooting just to back up APP data and maybe freeze some of the Samsung bloat ware?

Also is there a preferred method of rooting, i am leaning more towards CF...

Obviously no one can see into the future but do we think Google will eventually build in some APP data back up like apple have in IOS? TBH that's the only thing I miss about the IPhone, how easy it was to back everything up, saying that i would not swap back to an IPhone after owning an SGS2

Thanks in advance guys

If you're doing everything legitimately, Samsung Kies should backup apps for you. Of course, Kies is pretty crap and I don't believe it backs up save data or settings or anything. So rooting is a good idea just to utilise Titanium Backup, if for nothing else.

chainfire is definitely the way forward, simple and reliable.

there are many posts on here from people who've had issues with other methods, but not with chainfire!

Backing up a rooted phone couldn't be simpler. Even better if you have an external SD card mounted. Why trust icloud when you back up to your own personal devices. ClockworkMod backs up and restores seamlessly. Which leads me to .....

I urge you to use the tried and tested CF root method. 99.99% effective. See the sticky post in this forum for more information. Read everything twice and make sure you back up before flashing custom ROMS. Also back up your /efs folder once your done to ensure the integrity of your phones IMEI. I always bleet on about it but this is the single most important thing you can do once your rooted.

Thanks. :)

Thanks Guys....

1 other question from me, which im sure i have read the answer to, Once rooted (no customer roms etc) if i 'Un-root' do i need to do anything else in case of a claim?
