Hi Guys
Currently with Virgin and own the HTC Desire.
My partner is having the contract off of me and i am getting a new phone (so long as virgin will swap ownership and direct debit?)
What phones are there at the moment with good big specs.
Basically i just need it for quick texting, good call quality, and quick internet browsing.
I have looked at the motorola defy purely because of my job in the construction industry the toughness of it is ideal - but how does it compare too some of the higher end phones out there at the moment??
ie the desire hd, desire Z, Motorola milestone, dell streak, Windows phones etc??
Thanks guys

I think Defy is a good value if you are looking for a tough cheap phone. It's performance is a bit under Desire, but for your purposes should be fine. The drawbacks are that it will not receive OS updates (Froyo is the last one), and its camera performance (still and video) is poor.

Probably a better choice would be HTC Desire S (3.7" display) or Incredible S (4" display with more comfortable browsing and texting).

It seems Virgin is touting the LG Optimus V now but I'd wait to get a newer phone this summer. The Samsung Intercept doesn't look bad but I don't like the physical keyboard, its a waste of weight for me.

think this has been overlooked, you can change the direct debit details however the contract will still have to be in your name, otherwise they will make you buy out the remainder of the contract (i think, please correct me if im wrong)

You are right, a friend of mine tried it, you can only change the payment details. The contract holder can't change.

Don't get the Defy.

Guy i used to work with had it and the performance was horrid! slow processor and unresponsive screen. It's not bad, just not great compared to desire

SGS2 looks good
