What phone should I choose if I can get rid of my Eris?

I am looking for your guys opinions on a new phone. I am still under contract and do not have the upgrade option. I will be on my 3rd Eris and all of them have had the same problems. The biggest one is being unable to make/answer phone calls. The second would be it locking up all the time and me having to pull the battery.
I have heard that people have complained to Verizon's customer support and they were able to trade for a Droid. In your guys opinion would this be a way better phone? What about the Ally or the Devour? I would love an Incredible or the Droid X but I know that will never happen.
What do you guys suggest? Your opinions do help a lot of us out.
Thanks.

Is a Droid X even a reality? Do you think I could get one at a discounted price or if they would let me sign a new contract.

yes its a reality. Moto is a lot more prepared then HTC.
The DX is soooo fast and smooth. I've played on my Eris since acquiring my X and its just shocking to see the differences.

I'm hearing that from a lot of quarters.

Motorola has it down, with Android it appears.
