Root What rom are you guys using and why?

What ROM are you guys using? (currently)

anyone know an icon pack that will work with this rom? a pack of icons that gridlock put together doesnt work or at least it didnt for me. i didnt do a factory reset when i flashed the icons to Aloysius cause i didnt think i needed to, do you think it would make a difference? the rom would just loop the start up and do nothing more. i was glad i did a NAND backup.

Just curious are you talking about notification bar icons? I'm planning to try out Aloysius later this week.
 
I went back to the official2.1root from vanilla because root failed to work on vanilla as su would pop a blank screen on the phone that I had to hold the end button down to kill. also the phone would randomly reboot while running NAV. speed with crippled access is about all i got with it.

did you have "debugging" checked ?

i had the same issue when I tested this ROM. Reboot the phone, after its re-loaded, plugin ur phone to the usb, set it to charge only, open up a cmd in /tools/ dir and then type adb shell and then su. within 10s you should get the popup on your screen asking if you want to allow, blah blah, hit always allow.

EDIT: Try this ROM if you like vanilla. I would recommend removing lwp, it ran a lot faster once I removed it. very very snappy.

been there done that got the t-shirt etc. etc. eris21official-root worked fine so I went back. I planned ahead with the nand backup :P
there were other things I did not like, if you click personalize in the settings it crashes something thats looking for sense etc. so I just felt like it was a bit too much of a Franken-Rom.
thats just me.
 
So which ROM would everyone say has the fewest issues/cons/things that don't work compared to stock 1.5?

(You might want to add stock 1.5 to the poll for us fraidy cats) ;)

The only major issue I can remember was with the camera. It would work fine but when I tried to back out it would lock up for 20 seconds and then force close. I could avoid it by going to the gallery first and then exiting. It's been a couple of weeks since I used it but that's the major one I can remember.

Every time you flash a new ROM, you have to, at least ONCE (with the exception of ROMs that are already set-up for it like Ivan's 0.8t2) use 'adb shell' and 'su', and then look at your phone and hit 'allow'.

If you don't use adb shell at least once, superuser will NEVER work on some ROMs.

Once you do it once, you're all set.
 
Wow...thus far it appears Aloysius is the clear winner. Any reason why so few folks are running the 2.1 official root?

that ROM was a starting point. people have built off it and like Aloysius, done ports from the Hero ROM and opened up many many new features. I have 6 NAND backups that i go back and forth with but since Aloysuis, I will be staying with it until something better comes out.

Yeah, my two oldest daughters are on the same team(5yr and 6yr) and they have a blast with it. My parents weren't always supportive of my athletic endeavors, so I make it a point to be there every chance I get.
 
I've got Sense-able at the moment, but I'm thinking of going to Aloysius with all the posts I've seen about it lately.
