Root What ROM are you using?

Kinda new to this section, and because this is my first Nexus device, I'm overwhelmed with the huge number of different ROMs out there.

So what are you running?
 
Rooted stock does it for me, too. Don't feel the need to overclock and can't think of anything else a different rom would get me (that I want). :dontknow:
 
Paranoid Android is my ROM of choice. They are pretty much reworking everything from the ground up for the 4.4 release; as a result, the current betas are very smooth and stable but don't incorporate a lot of the value-added features that the ROM has become known for (PIE, Halo, Hybrid, etc). It does have a small handful of enhancements over AOSP and puts a lot more focus on overall polish and user experience than just wanting to cram in all the latest cool hacks.
 
Surprised that a lot of people seem to be running stock (a few with some Xposed tweaks)

I'm currently using the JB version of PA, and don't really want to lose my Halo :p although I've seen a few roms that incorporate it, as well as some tweaks that supposedly enhance it :D

I'm also slightly reluctant to moving to KK in order to preserve the 'new phone feeling' when I finally got round to getting a new phone (most likely Moto X or N5)
 
Used to be all about ROM's when I had my Desire HD... that was because I don't like HTC's Sense. Found that Vanilla Android works for me and haven't got a custom ROM on my phone (have on my N7 though)... just stayed stock, rooted :)

For me its honestly because I feel like vanilla android isn't.. Ugly, anymore. Its very well put together now. Its like buying a brand new Charger, I'm not about to smack the next set of rims on it, I'm keeping it stock and admiring the beauty lol.
 
I'm using paranoid android on my s3 tried cyangenmod and a s4 revolution for s3 but ov found paranoid is my favourite
 
I've tried a couple of different ROMs and keep coming back to stock AOSP. The others seem to have BT issues all the time with my car, whereas stock doesn't.

I am unlocked and rooted with stock 4.4.2. I installed ROM Tool Box and killed off most things Google (Now, Music, G+, GMail, etc, all gone.) and use alternatives, except for Play and a couple of background services. I gained almost a GB of space and the battery life is better; still charge every night though. I listen to audiobooks while working my 10hr shifts, surf a little on breaks and have 15-20% left at the end of a full day.

I have been running Beanstalk for a while, tried lots, always seem to come back to it... Rock solid, stable, and decent battery life, it has a fair amount of tweaking that can be done but not extremely excessive. Also run Beanstalk on my G2.
 
I like stock also but went to cm11 just to try and love it so far. Put hells core kernel on it and kept getting random reboots even after clearing devlich and cache so put piask-kk.v8cm on it to have swipe2sleep option and have had no problems so far. Highly recommend it.

That's been my experience as well - not just with PACMAN, but with pretty much every ROM that mixes-and-matches pieces from other builds. The result is rarely as cohesive or as smooth as any of the source ROMs.

My first Android was a HTC Desire, tried a lot of different ROMs for that. The only one I preferred and used daily was put together by SuRoot. I wish I had kept that phone!
 
Can one of you help me add another rom to Nexus4? Rooted, but on 4.2.2. I read the updates before allowing them, and KitKat doesn't interest me. I wouldn't mind trying CM or another ROM on 4.3

Trouble is, everyone was enamored of the pie thing for apps. I feel that if I prefer to stick Phone, contacts and settings on the bottom, I should be able to. I never saw anything about customizing. I prefer my own photos for wallpaper, don't want live wallpaper, etc. I never finished with a custom ROM.

I've also switched to a 7pro computer, and have totally forgotten what you need to download to back up.

I have TB, and did have Rom manager, but have forgotten how to use it. I'd also need to read about the other app that acted like Rom manager and most here preferred.

Just what is Superuser SU? I have it on the phone, tried updating it once and it killed the phone. I don't remember downloading it. This is not the superuser associated with TB. That gets updated. TB is paid for, not free app.

I'm pretty much running the way Andruoid is.

I'm not familiar with 7pro computers but if you're already rooted, I don't see a need for one.

All you need to do is download the zip of the rom you want and after a wipe in recovery, flash the zip. Depending on which rom you chose you might need to flash gapps too in order to get the Play Store.

SuperSU AFAIK pretty much allows you to grant root access for certain apps (like TB) although I've never had it kill a phone before.
 
I have to back up somewhere - If I just wipe, I lose TB backups.

I just checked the phone - got into boot menu
choices:
reboot,
recovery
power on.

phone state is unlocked.

I rooted the phone on an XP laptop, and that's where all the info is and whatever other apps for backup and adk files are. I've switched to a newer laptop and I'm not sure where to start in the middle.

I have an old snapshot of the backup app files but they are a year old.

When you do the "standard" wipe, you generally clear out the BOOT, SYSTEM and DATA and well as the CACHE partitions. You can not touch the sd card and be fine (I assume you havent done anything to change where your TB saves are, which should be sdcard/titaniumbackup)
