I'm running Soft-Mod 1.8 and have been experiencing serious SD card problems. I use a Patriot 32gb Class 4 card. See the attached image.
The issue has developed to the point where the my GT540 barely runs at all with the Patriot inside - it becomes highly unstable, crashes constantly, is unable write much data, and now can't even read data without having a meltdown.
I have a smaller Lexar 8gb Class 4 card that suffers none of these problems, so I know the phone does not have generic SD card issues.
Also, the 32gb card works fine when plugged into my Win 7 laptop, though Windows always asks me to check the card for errors. When I do check it for errors, Windows never finds anything. So I know the 32gb card is not having generic issues.
The card is fine in another device, the phone is fine with another card. It seems that the problem is this particular SD card in this particular phone.
Several forum members (dudeman, you_tu) have been very helpful in suggesting that the GT540 probably just can't handle such a large card.
This seems like the right answer, so my question is, What's the best and largest SD card to use in a GT540 with cyangenmod? Does anyone have any direct experience with what works and what doesn't work? I need to get a new card, one that can handle a lot of music and video files, and I don't know what to buy. Please post concrete user feedback if you have it. Thanks!
