It's been on since day 1. I can't figure out for my life.

Just turned gps on and off, it's still there. It doesn't look like a satellite at all.

So, along the same lines as the OP. Does anyone know how to get rid of the location icon? (the one that looks like a compass, or a steering wheel) I hate that it sits in my notification bar taking up so much space when I really have no need to see it, ever.

I think the only way you can turn off default icons would be to turn it off completely

I thought about that, but it looks like you can't turn it off. Not to mention, I'd rather leave it on in case I have to call 911 from my cell.

It just seems a bit ridiculous that they leave the icon on all the time. When I had a Nexus One, that icon was nowhere to be found if I remember correctly.
