Hi guys,

I had my heart set on the archos 101, but am now sick of waiting. Do you guys know of any other tablets that have similiar qualities to the archos 101?

or can someone suggest other tablets

I have had a look at the millenius smartQ, but.. meh

Also...From my research the viewsonic is likely the next best thing. But most consider it terrible out of the box so if you don't want to mod it then I would suggest not grabbing that one.

I would like to suggest the viewsonic g tablet especially this weekend. I heard it was on sale at sears for $350. I think that price is just right for this tablet. You can either buy it at sears or have office depot or staples price match and buy it there.

I think the 101 and gtablet are good devices. Though the gtablet has better hardware the archos is much better out of the box. You have to put in some time to make the gtablet an awesome device.

gtablet, root it, tnt rom i'm getting 2400+ on quadrant .. should take you about 10 minutes..

I'd second this... I'm starting to love both mine after the recent changes... very stable and everything I've tried I've been able to get working so far except for VPN/tunneling and I think that that's just a matter of time...

I had both side by side. I had both running Gapps, flash, etc. As much as I wanted to like the Archos, it wasn't as good. Angry birds for instance, took 2-3 times longer to load. Thi was typical. You could definately feel the difference.

Bought a g-tablet a few days ago and the free apps are great but the ones purchased such as Linda File Managment, Office Suite Pro, Tether plus all continue to crash. The only one I can get to work is Office Suite Pro but you need to enter it via Astro. Handango has really been a pain, never responds passwords don't work any suggestions.

I haven't used handango. Once I got my gtablet, I rooted it and installed a custom that had the android market. I would suggest the same because the android market is much better than handango, IMO. If you're interested in rooting go to xda forums or check out some of the threads about the gtablet in here.

Does anyone know anything about the Malata tablets? They seem pretty sweet. As for the G Tablet, how do I get one into Australia? It seems that we live too far away to get anything decent without it costing an arm and a leg

yea your not wrong specs are the same! I cant find anything on the Malata tablets just speculation that they are being rebranded!

You are spot on... Malata developed the reference platform for the Tegra2 tablets... the now shipping cousins of this design that I know of are the generic Ztab, Viewsonic Gtab 10, and the Advent Vega... All have some diffs in what's delivered (Ram size, 3G/No 3G, buttons on screen, etc.)... but all are that same basic design and likely same internal motherboard so far...
