Root What the hell did I do this time? New Root on New Device Skipped steps!

Maybe you guys can help me out like soooo many times in the past.
You'd figure I'd have the hang of this now...but noooooooooo

I replaced my phone with the same EVO 4G LTE.

Attempted to root the new one and maybe it's me but it seems so much harder this time!

The run down: I unlocked the phone, installed recovery.
Accidentally skipped the DirtyRacun steps and attempted to Flash the Viper 4G ROM but after the install the touchscreen won't work on boot up. (works in the bootloader)

I have no clue how to use Ubuntu and I definitely didn't use it last time.
What should I do? I'm incredibly busy at work and just have my phone sitting in bootloader now in s-on.

the latest touch panel with the latest ota should work with viper. what version are you on?

Oh yeah? How do I get the ota? ALso, how do I find the version I'm on? Sorry, this stuff is still tough for me to grasp. You think I can easily get the touch panel to work even though I missed dirtyracun?

no you do not want the ota. i was just saying that it would seem that your phone is up to date with the latest ota. you do not want to ever take an ota while you are rooted.

best way to know is to go into your bootloader and report back what your hboot is and your baseband(radio) and we can tell you.

but again what version of viper are you on? is it the latest?

No it's not. It's a version I had on my card since January.

ok yep you are on the latest firmware then. you will need to get the latest viper rom to fix the tp issue you are having.

......or you can get s-off and downgrade your tp so that you will not have any issues

no you really do not need to re-lock the phone unless you are using ruu.

Hmmm habving trouble getting the rom to flash. It keeps failing right away.

It says I have no OS after I wiped the system and then tried to reinstall the new Viper. But the new Viper fails.

here is the steps to flash the rom:
1. make a nandroid backup
2. wipe dalvik cache, cache, data(factory reset), and system
3. flash the rom
4. reboot

when you wipe system, you will wipe the rom clean for the most part.

actually sorry do not wipe. let the aroma installer do that.....it has been a while since i was on viper.

Yeah, I did a wipe but I think the ROM was corrupt so I downloaded it again. Looks like it pushed through this time...we'll see in a min. Should work! Or I hope! Been without a phone a few days now which was actually nice!

a few days? yikes, i would die if i do not have my phone with me for any length of time

just make sure that you use the aroma installer to wipe the phone and not have recovery do it. let us know how it goes.
