What was that app....

Your phone should do that automatically if you have the wifi saved. When I walk into my home or office, it automatically switches from 4G to wifi. No app required.

y5

Yes but y5 turns the wifi on/off based on your location to help with battery life.

So you would only use this app if there are certain locations where you do not want the wifi turning on - leaving your phone without data? Just trying to understand how this would be useful.

Wouldn't Y5 need to utilize GPS at all times to know where you are - greatly increasing the juice use?

It simply turns off the wifi when you're not in range of your typical wifi router. You will not lose data because your 3G/4G kicks in but your wifi is off, saving the battery life because it is not constantly scanning for a wifi router. It does not use GPS, it remembers the cell towers that are in range while connected to the wifi router. Once you leave that area of cell towers, the app turns off your wifi. And when you reenter that area of cell towers it will turn your wifi on.
