What was your first web-based forum?

IOWA

Mr. Logic Pants
I know many of us might go way back to dial-up BBS's and such, but I'm curious what everyone's first web based forum was?

Mine was this Synthetic Reality Forums

I can't believe it's actually still around. It was for a very basic game I used to play. Ironically, I remembered this place when I saw the name Synthetic-Reality in the Google Market lol...

Really, it was this one. I used to irc chat a lot. Never during, though.

For forums it was iVillage. I remember using irc, aol chat, msn chat, some various parachat chat rooms, and one called chat planet before that. I miss those old rooms, and I miss the old iVillage.

I've been on several forums in the past, most of them were graphic design or counter strike 1.6 forums. It's too hard to remember exactly which was the first one.

houstonraves.com lol i don't believe it's running anymore. but yeah, the first BBS was the Pentacle out of Houston. It was mainly for playing Doom and Duke Nukem

It was 1984 and I was on a Commodore 64 with a baud 110 modem for dialing into each bbs. Can't remember the bbs, but it took about a minute to load a page that was nothing more than letters, special characters and numbers. Started out with a tape drive before getting 5.25 floppy drives.

C=64 and MS-DOS FTW!

Dial ups don't count =P. On a side note, I did host my own dial up BBS with Wildcat software lol

What's BBS? lol

AndroidForums was my first forum :) I prefer live chat (iirc/msn) before I joined here.

Prodigy Internet Beer Forums. I was the only kid in my dorm with internet (if you can call it that).

I used AOL chat rooms in about '94, but the first 'proper' form was MacRumors.

Before the iPod/iPhone made Apple so hugely popular it was small enough to have a real community feel, I believe it kinda went downhill when the user numbers swelled; but I'd already been asked to leave by then, so I prefer to think it went down hill without me :)

Still miss what it was, but not what it became

My first forum was probably in 2005 with an open tibia game...been active on probably 5 others between then and now...AF is the forum in have gotten most into

I would assume Prodigy was my very first web based, I guess it was web based, I can't remember. If not, a Windows and Linux forums would have been my first. I can't remember any names though.

Mine was in an old social network before MySpace facebook and Google called bolt.

BOLT!!! I loved Bolt and hated when it shut down, even though I had grown out of it by that time. I actually met one of my very best friends on Bolt around 1999. Even though he's in SC and I'm in KS we still talk about once a week, even if it's just to say hi.

I had a good friend there but we lost contact. Her name was hippychickdaisey. I was real active my name was bengy2141.

I can't even remember what I had for breakfast ... you want me to remember 20 years ago?

Do usenet groups count?
