I had planned to get the Evo on launch day and wanted to be involved in the Android community as much as possible. I also wanted to learn a lot about it, and boy did I!

I came here to harass people! :)

Naah but all jokes aside... I wanted to try help others and share political views on my country... but there are like no people from SA here so ja.... :(

I joined because I'm Joe Joiner from Joinersville with a geek streak a mile wide. That, and I found the information here to be forthcoming and accurate.

I found Phandroid off Google when researching Android when I was going to buy one. Saw they had a forum, lurked. Got my Legend, joined, posted a few times, went months without coming on, now it's almost daily!

well I joined because I'm fascinated with android. As weird as that seems. I have a Samsung captivate and i think its the coolest thing. I can to find cool themes and ROMS. I modded Motorola razr's in the past a long time ago and I wanted to see what i could do on the captivate. But i have no idea on how to make a theme. I know how to extract the .apk files and that's about it. Does anyone know any wicked cool themes that are compatible with the captivate ? If so could you link me? I see a lot out there and even on the xda site but anyone have any cool themes they know of ? I wanted to make some cool themes and share them with the community but i just have to keep reading up on it and learning more about it I guess...

Help: understanding Native Running Services summary display -- Other: 53MB in 3; 3 what? Found same question asked twice, but not answered. No matter. Quest uncovered AF awesomeness, & I joined.

Recently learned answer to my question in viewing Galaxy Tab display. It's Services, but of course. :)

I was always a forum lurker in my blackberry days and when i jumped to android i kept the lurking up for awhile...,i found this site by googling something to the affect of android phone message board or something like that. :)

I think it was when i actually took the root plunge on my former droid x that i figured it might be good to join in so i could ask for help/feedback

:)

I picked "Offering advice/support" as the reason for JOINING. But that's not what brought me here. Root was brand new for the Droid and I was lurking here for quite awhile in order to "take the info and run."

I had never actually been active in any forum before this one. I lurked as always, got the info I needed and I kept checking back to see what was new. Eventually more and more people had questions and there weren't that many people to answer all of the questions, so I joined to offer some help (just felt obligated for some strange reason :)). One year later...I still love this highly addictive place!

No wonder you're a MOD now! You just have a MOD's mentality ;) lol

As the Hero was my first smart phone, I wanted to learn as much about it as I could. I lurked around a few forums for a while, and decided this was the nicest, most fun and most helpful group of folks I found.

Same with me :) I was phone shopping, lol, and came across the android platform, so started researching and reading articles from the various Android blogs (Phandroid, AC, A&M, AP etc) and I joined all of their forums, but I found that AF was the most fun as well as informative.

Frisco will appreciate this one!

I chose device support, but the reason I actually joined was because a year ago, when I bought my Eris, they told me in the store that the 2.1 update was "right around the corner" and I kept coming back to get updates and news...Little did anyone realize it would take 6 months!!

So little by little I started noticing that I could actually help and that's when I became addicted or dependent (whichever way you want to describe it) on this asylum!

That and OTD's avatar of course!!! :p

first joined XDA... because sprint rep told me about it..when I had the HTC Touch CDMA... then i did more research there when I got my HTC Diamond.

I got the Hero CDMA a yr ago.... saw android was so cool.. want to learn more. Saw a few times that AF was mentioned in a few threads at XDA...

So joined here to find more info... but was more active in XDA.

over time.. I noticed I was spending more leisure time here than at XDA looking for knowledge and killing time.
this community is more laided back and more helpful and friendly.
can talk more my level (stupid).. not so technical like in XDA.

I like it...

I remember joining when I first won the Samsung Behold II in the Behold II giveaway. A few others who had won their phones were posting in the Behold II forum and I was curious about an ETA for when I would receive mine. After I got my phone I just stayed in tuned with AF because they have a great community. I'm a forum junkie anyway, I have over 10,000+ posts on one football message board and moderate another one so it was easy for me to appreciate what you guys have going on over here.

That is it

Ha HA I even found my very 1st post

http://androidforums.com/samsung-behold-2/25792-just-got-behold-2-mail-winner-sweepstakes-d.html

I take it by your signature that your 1st post did not stand the test of time, specifically "It was worth the wait. trust me"

;)

I joined because my husband has dragged me back to my tech roots and got me an Android ( LG Apex) for Christmas. I used to be big into Palm PDAs but with 7 kids and currently pregnant with my 8th .. I kinda fell off the tech bandwagon lol.

This forum reminds me of the fun people I used to know in the Old School PDA forums , hence my forum name :D

I usually go out and find the geekiest websites I can find and feel as part of Ia group. lol welcome to the geek fest.

I originally came to the Phandroid website because I love reading about new tech and I wanted something specific to the Android platform because I had purchased a Nexus One a couple of months prior. I started off reading just the news articles but i eventually got curious and wanted to see what the forum had to offer. For the first few days, I lurked around the Nexus One and T-Mobile sections and I noticed there were a lot of people that either needed info or were giving false information. Since the forums had provided me with a few helpful tips, I thought it's only fair to contribute my knowledge and experience. Since then, checking the Phandroid forums has become part of my daily routine. Some people are addicted to Facebook but for me, I constantly need my Phandroid fix.
