what will this phone deliver that droid cannot

i am a happy droid owner..but wife wants my droid....so i either pick HER up her own, or get this incredible phone.

comparing them...please help

1) which one is lighter (i think its the incredible..droid is a brick)

2) better resolution?

3) faster? (incredible)

4) what does incredible have that droid does not? (optic track pad)- not sure id like or use this. any others?

5) what does droid have that incredible does not? (pull out keyboard which i personally never use)

First off, if you do decide to get another droid, you probably should wait a bit since i'm sure the price will drop when the Incredible comes.

Then, the amoled screen takes up much less power than the droid's to help with battery life. Also, it will be faster of course. People overclock the droid, but i'm sure you will be able to overclock the Incredible to much higher ghz, not to mention ghz isn't everything (it actually means very little, an i7 is a super fast - even compared to other quads - but is only 1.6-2.8Ghz). I'm not sure how much better the snapdragon is with graphics etc though.

Then, it will be much lighter and thinner. Better looking too. if it weren't for the back and that bottom lip of the droid, i'd think it's good looking but that bottom part that sticks out ruins the looks a bit imo.

Then, there is the sense ui. I honestly don't care that much but some people swear by it.

Also as to resolution, you don't need a better one. The only reason why anything would look blurry is because they weren't drawn in that high of a resolution. I think the Incredible will be better with some programs though, because the aspect ratio is less weird. Motorola makes the screen a bit wider and less tall (when holding it widesreen like a tv) with a slightly different aspect than others which might makes some programs stretch a bit. Note that this is just a theory as I have not looked into this.

This is my main gripe about the Droid. I just don't like the way it feels when I use it. The Incredible will offer a much more comfortable form factor for me.
 
It's a big shame about the Droid, I like everything about it but how it felt especially how cheap it felt.

I'm hoping they fix it in there next Phone (shadow??)
 
Having used the N1 the amoled screen uses more power than an lcd for white webpages. A lot more. It's also rather poor in sunlight. That said, the color resolution is like a high quality plasma screen. Very nice.
 
Well for one thing, the incredible doesn't look like a brick. That's actually the main reason why I returned the droid and am waiting for this damn thing. Oh yea, and snapdragon.

I don't know, we have yet to see what the Snapdragon can do that the OMAP cannot.

Will it? I hope that's the case, but from what I've seen, the dimensions were pretty close...with the Incredible being slightly smaller and lighter, but nothing significant.

I had the Droid for a month, and returned it back in mid-Jan, waiting for something better. It was just a little too heavy and bulky for me.

It's actually a lot lighter. The droid is 6 ounces and the Incredible is 4.6. To put it in perspective, the eris is 4.2 which is a very light phone.

The droid also has this built in to the handset. The phone is made by HTC which is, in my opinion, a better phone manufacturer than Moto. I bet if the hardware specs were equal on the two phones, android would run smoother on the Incredible just because of the working relationship between HTC and Google.

All you took from this thread and others here is shape and weight? The upgraded camera, the faster processor, more memory and the addition of on board storage (not external, which this phone has too if you but the mircoSD card) plus the sense UI, battery life, no physical keyboard.

None of that seemed important to you?!?!?
 
I have read that the Droid is the better 3D gaming phone because the fill rate is much better on it's dedicated GPU. The Snapdragon can push more polygons, but they can't be rendered before textures are added. Anecdotal evidence, for example, is that the Droid has a much smoother framerate playing Raging Thunder 2.
 
If the moto droid had a decent physical keyboard, I'd already have one. But the physical keyboard is basically useless. I don't like sliding phones - the moto droids sliding keyboard included. The moto droid is kind of ugly with the lip hanging out on the bottom. It also seems rather heavy. All in all, the "feel" of the moto droid wasn't up to par for me.

Hardware wise, the Inc wins in almost every concieivable category. Faster processor, more on board ram, lighter weight, smaller form factor, sense UI, 2.1 out of the box, AMOLED, better looks, better camera/flash. I'm probably forgetting a few pro's for the Inc.

Con's for the Inc seem to be that it may not be as fast for 3d gaming. I don't game on my phone - got my Asus G73JH laptop with the ATI 5870 gpu for my mobile gaming rig. :)

Droid is almost free right now. $20 on Amazon. (Only condition for the Amazon discount is that you keep the phone for 181 days or they charge you a $250 fee).
 
If specs correct:

1. 8mp camera
2. microsd access without battery removal
3. twice the ram- edit (can sometimes help)
4. FM radio

The wild card is the touch screen. Droid's blows Nexus 1 away in this regard, so need to hope the Inc does not use the same display. The problem is hardware and not software for N1. Software just puts a bandaid on the problem.

A great multi-touch helps offset no keyboard. I did not mention the Snapdragon, since a 800mhz clocked 3430 is just as good (assuming you root).
 
Droid is $20 at wirefly too... just hoping that price lasts cause I want the incredible but my wife wants the droid because of the physical keyboard (hates virtual on her storm).
 
If this makes it into stores on 4/29, I will have three days to decide whether to exchange the Droid I just bought for the Incredible! The pressure!!! I'm hesitant, because I love the Droid and it works. After a year of hell with the BB Storm, I'm nervous about changing phones again.
