What wireless formats does the V support?

What wireless formats does the V support? 802.11????
Was thinking of upgrading my Linksys WRT54GS which is 802.11g to a dual band 802.11N. Would this help my WiFi Connection to my phone?

The OV supports b/g, not n. The new router might give you better connection speeds, but you still won't have the 54mbps.

Arent they all backwards compatable?

Just got GF kid a WiFi router n sure it just said N on the box but I had no trouble using it.

Older revisions will connect, but at lower speeds. Really it doesn't matter, I promise your connection to the router is much faster than your connection to the computer on the other side of the web. :D

Although the OV doesn't support wireless n, buying a new router would still be a good investment. When I upgraded my router I saw a speed boost on all my devices including my OV and Wii (both do not support wireless n). You will also see increased range from a new router.

The WRT54GS is a decent rouner, upgrading it will not improve the speed of your V. Actual Ethernet throughput is about 20-25Mbps for 802.11g with strong signal, speed goes down as your signal level goes down. But as someone else mention, the CPU and bus speeds will affect throughput as well, in my experience I generally get about 10Mbps of throughput on the V when using FTP to transfer movie files.
