What would you buy?

Ok, this is my last threat before I make a decision. I've been debating between the Epic and the Evo for the last week and want to order one for Christmas by the end of the day.

I had been leaning toward the Epic for its keyboard, better screen, and because I kept hearing it makes a better media player. The most important things to me are the ability to play videos (I'm a film student) and the camera. In both cases, I'd heard the Epic was the better choice.

I was all set to order the Epic when I heard it was on still on Android 2.1. I'd read comparison articles from several months ago but they all said that 2.2 was coming soon to the Epic so I just assumed it had it by this point. I'm kind of worried that if the Epic doesn't have 2.2 by now then it may be months if ever that it comes to the phone. I really don't care about having the latest everthing but a lack of flash (no YouTube, Vimeo, or Hulu) is a big deal since I care so much about movies and the inablity to install apps to an SD card seems like it could be a big problem.

So, I'm looking for a bit of help deciding from the people who use the Epic. I'm not trying to start a flame war but just want some advice. Would you buy it again given the lack of Froyo? Is there ANY indication when there will be an update?

Well, the Epic does have a lite version of flash, just not full-fledged flash.

Hulu won't work as it's disabled to work on android mobile devices when they are new out of the box. You can however root your phone (get admin access) and "hack" it to allow it to work. I've never had a problem watching any video on youtube and have never used Vimeo.

As far as Froyo, we know it's coming but we do not know when. Sprint is said to be testing release candidates now. Some of us are using leaked versions of the update with no problems.

Ultimately, in my opinion, it comes down to which phone YOU personally like. I love my Epic and my wife loves her Evo. Both are fantastic phones. Most importantly, we each have the phone that best suits are wants and needs.
