What's a good site to buy top up cards

That seller is also offering 120.00 for 65.99...just sounds too good to be true although he has all positive feedback...

This month I want back to using CallingMart, since they have been quick and reliable (and with the points I had in my account, it was under $25 this time).

Walmart.com kept rejecting my order due to alleged payment issues, but I could see the payments and payment reversals in my credit card activity log online, and I contacted my credit card company and they said they see no reasons why the payments weren't deemed valid by Walmart. It seems like the issues were on Walmart's end. I think I'm done with dealing with Walmart.com's unreliability for making payment and recurring slowness in getting the order validated after payment.

I stopped at about $180 or so...definately a good deal. Some people have had issues though...there's a thread about this in the EVO V 4G forum. How do you buy hardware with your top up balance? Is it an option during checkout? When the Galaxy S3 hits Virgin Mobile (or some flagship worthy phone), I'll be checking out that upgrade path, and if I can use top ups...that's the route I'll go with the eBay discount :D

You go through check out like normal but when you're choosing the payment option there should be a drop down box with the option to pay with your balance. It will only show up if you have enough to pay for it in your account though.

Ahh...so I couldn't even test it out unless I went with a cheaper phone...I hope the SIII will be under $400...because unless things have changed...you can't have more than $400 in your account.

I believe you can call customer service if you don't have enough in you're account and pay the difference.

And if you wanted to test it, just go through checkout with Kyocera Rise. Just don't confirm the purchase.
 
Callingmart.com has no VMU refills right now. Crazygametime also no longer has VMU.

So far Walmart is the only place listed in the thread that has them right now. And it says it will take 24 hours for the order to process.

Looks like I may have to go back to a brick and mortar for my cards.

FYI - I tried a number of times recently to purchase a top up card from Walmart.com and each time it was rejected. The money/credit card charge went through without a problem, but then Walmart would cancel the order on their end. Not sure what the problem was exactly, but since it happened multiple times, I just gave up. Just wanted to let you know in case you decide to try that route.

I ordered a VM $25 card from Walmart last Wednesday and it took almost 24 hours to get the PIN, but at least it came through without any phone calls and without any canceled orders: I've experienced both multiple times in the past, so I had planned to stop using Walmart, but I didn't have many other online choices this time.

But while I was waiting for the VM PIN to arrive, I went to Target and bought an LG Optimus L9 and activated it on the T-mobile $30 unlimited text/data plan, so I might not go back to VM. Fortunately the VM card won't go to waste because my GF is still on VM (at least for now).
 
I tried 2 orders with 2 different credit cards from Walmart and both of them were canceled after 10 minutes. Called my Credit card company and they said they approved the charges and the problem is on Walmart's end.
 
Target's ad today says there is a 10% discount on pre-paid top-up cards, including Virgin Mobile. It's in-store only, though.

If you have the Target debit/credit card you get an additional 5% off for a total of 15% off. Not too shabby!
 
Weird. I've been buying my top up cards at a 7/11 near my house for 4 years, never paid a dime in California sales tax.
 
Okay everyone in California here it is from the BOE:

Prepaid telephone debit cards
In general, sales of prepaid telephone debit cards are not subject to tax (see exception below). You are considered to be selling a future telephone service rather than selling physical products.
Exception: If you sell a prepaid telephone card for its value as a collectible item rather than for future telephone service, the sale is subject to tax. For example, if you sell an expired card with a picture of a famous person or classic automobile, you are selling a collectible item, and the sale is subject to tax.

Many other states stupidly consider it "tangible personal property" which is a joke.
The plastic represents 2 cents of value to buy a service.

I don't believe it. For once California gets it right and everyone else gets the draconian government treatment.

Summary: Ebay says they may have been purchased by overseas scammers using stolen credit card data. If so ebay claims you will lose your credits from your carrier and it will be too late for paypal to do anything about it. Note when they mention "clear your good name" with ANYone this is a red flag on this advice that it's Pollyanna oriented BS and not real world experiences. No corporation cares about anyone's good name.
FWIW per section 7 of Paypal policies states prepaid phone and debit cards are ineligible for Paypal buyer protection anyway, so caveat emptor.
The second post relates an opinion from T mobile that once the pin is issued it cannot be rescinded for any reason, conflicting advice to the ebay post.
The third gives a more plausible explanation as to why these deals are out there and may be true. If it is then we can all buy away with a good conscience we are not merely feeding into the e-fraud machine that eventually may come around and bite us back for karma.
My gut feeling is that like all transactions on ebay, scrutinize your seller and don't deal with new low feedback sellers- and though while ebay can often get you the best deals on the planet on anything, don't play if you can't accept getting burned once in awhile.

I've heard this before, as well. I posted on another thread just now how in Texas, you can make a payment on your prepaid account in store at a machine and not pay sales tax, I believe you can also make it from your phone without paying sales tax. What makes it weirder, I believe Virgin Mobile charges tax if you top up from your phone.

And I also mentioned the oddity that if you pay one of the salespeople in an AT&T store, you again have to pay sales tax -- if I had to guess the idea is that you are receiving "service" from the person who is running the payment.

I'll agree, it is truly idiotic the way some states do it.

IIRC if I pay virgin mobile from a credit card directly on their site I did pay sales tax in California. This may seem like a discrepancy however the state BOE rule I quoted above came from a pdf document titled "grocery stores" and thus physical purchases may be treated differently.
