Whats all the excitement around handcent?

Chomp for me. I like the pop up reply options and that it pops up no matter what. Speed. Customization. No MMS problems.

This is exactly why I hate chomp.

I could not get those stupid pop ups to go away no matter what I changed in settings and notifications.

Handcent just shows up in notification bar which is how I like it

Within chomp:
Menu.settings.quick reply&compose. Uncheck homescreen / apps.

I hate having to close out games n apps. I forget what was different between handscent n chomp but chomps quick reply options was the deciding factor.

the pop up message is nice, but for me its the speed. i hate deleting texts (im a virtual hoarder, if there is such a thing) and have 2556 texts with my girl friend. with the stock app it takes around 30 seconds to load, hand cent loads in under 2. i know alot of people like the lay out but i dont care about that at all. if the stock app ever loads faster i might switch back

I thought the same thing about handcent when I first DL'd it, but as time passed and I learned how customizable it really is, I have turned back since.

Is there a way to just have the messages delivered through Handcent only and not through the stock message app too? I hate having to go in through the stock messaging and delete all the messages.

go in dinc msg and turn off notifications. :D

I have the notifications turned off. I need a setting to keep messages from going to the stock app all together. With my Storm 2, I was able to use an alternate messaging app and there was a setting to keep messages from getting to the stock app

I actually don't, but I've seen you in the Softball Fans forums, lol! I play in a men's league on Monday nights and use a Miken Freak Plus. On Wednesday nights I play in a work coed league and I can't use my Miken as it's an ASA league. So I just use whatever people on my team have, usually a Synergy.

What do you recommend?

Love those tools in SBF:p I like the Demarini juggernaut, If you ever need some Evil balls let me know

Electronic business card that automates the exchange of personal information typically found on a traditional business card. The vCard is a file that contains the user's basic business or personal data (name, address, phone number, URLs, etc.)

For me it's 3 things:

2. Since Froyo, the stock app only lets you to send a mass text to a maximum of 10 people. This does not work as I manage a softball team and I need to send out a mass text to over 15 people on a weekly basis.

Are you able to send to more than 10 people with Handcent? If so, how are you able to do it? I use it as well and I also manage a softball team. My parents group has 19 entries in it and I got a dialog saying I couldn't send to more than 10 at one time.

I'm using phone only contacts (not google contacts) because I sync with Outlook. I didn't want to replicate all of my 350+ contacts to google resulting in linked contacts.

I would create a Softball A and Softball B roster in Google Voice settings to send to more than 10 contacts. If I remember correctly this is a Verizon limitation.

I like how I never have to delete texts. I have one thread with 2,197 sent/received and another with 1,134 and there is never any lag.

i have a question if your using handcent as your primary sms service even if the notifications are off do you still have to go in and delete the sms from the standard app? or when removing from handcent will it delete in both places?

I just deleted a thread in Handcent and checked to see if it was deleted in the stock messaging app. The thread I deleted is now all the way on the bottom and says Multimedia message with the date 12/31/69. When I try to open it, it goes to a loading screen but then goes back to the main page. And I am unable to delete the thread in the stock messaging app.

Looks like a small glitch with Handcent

However, when I deleted a thread in the stock messaging app, it was deleted in Handcent.

edit: It looks like the thread is now deleted in the stock messaging app, it just took a few minutes

I'm new to handcent and can't figure out how to delete a specific msg. Is there a way to do this, without deleting the whole thread.

More specifically, say I was having a convo with a friend, and the friend wrote something in a text, that I wanted to delete, but didnt want to delete the whole conversation. Can this be done with handcent. I know it can with stock SMS.
