What's my best approach?

I'm currently with verizon but I wanna get out and get the gsm unlocked N4 and go get prepaid. What's the cheapest way to get outta Verizon? Or should I just downgrade my plan to $10/month and pay that until my contract is up? Thanks for the help!

How much longer is your contract? That'll influence the ETF. You could get someone to take over your line, allowing you to leave, too.

Even if you could get it down to 10 dollars a month there would still be taxes and fees on it to make it a little bit higher. The ETF on Verizon is 350 minus 10 per month into the contract. If you're only 2 months in, then 22*15ish (due to taxes and fees) would come out to 330, which is identical to you're current ETF. But I highly doubt you could get it down to 10 dollars per month unless you're only one line on a family plan and only you plan on leaving. If you're on an individual contract, the best you could probably do would be to downgrade to a feature phone if you have one, remove the data and texting plans, and that would be like 30-40 a month if i recall the old prices correctly. At that price, it would make much more sense to pay the ETF.

So wait, I'm in a similar boat as the OP. I'm 8 months into my contract, so the price would be 350 - 80 = $270 plus tax? Am I reading this correct? I always thought it was 350 plus $10 per month you've yet to pay?

No way is it 350 + plus the remaining months.

Is that even possible? Lowest I could get my plan to go down is $40 for 300 mb data and $40 for one device.

If you keep the current plan and are an add on line to a family plan, then you can switch the phone to a dumbphone and not have to pay the data package. Only thing you'd pay would be the 10 add a line plus taxes.

ETF for a smartphone is 350 minus 10 per month you've been on the plan, if you are on the plan for 12 months the ETF would be $230. Keep in mind that Verizon allows you to upgrade at 20 months, but the contract is for 24 months, so even if you can upgrade, doesn't mean you can drop the contract without an ETF. The ETF would be 150 in that situation.

I'd try to find somebody to take over the line and buy the phone from you or you could sell the phone to pay for the ETF.

I'd be sure to ask around for somebody who wants to take over the account first, that'd get you extra cash. If not then yeah go for that plan.
