What's the best music player?

and I mean for both the phone and my laptop. Now that I'm not tied down to iTunes, I'd rather not use it because of how much of a hog it is, so what's the best out here in our opinion?

And what's the best way to have that sync with the phone?
 
I use DoubleTwist on my PC to export my iTunes playlists to the Inspire, works well. I use the stock app to play music since it seems to be the only one that supports the SRS and Dolby features on the phone. SRS seems to sound better with music, when its active it sounds very good imo.
 
Hands down no contest PowerAMP for the phone, its the best music player in terms of quality, has customizable equalizers, gets album artwork for you, best sound quality, just fantastic overall.

As for your PC, Mediamonkey is a fantastic organizer and lets you sync with any android phone as well as android, real robust music library manager.

It seems you have to pay for the AirSync stuff, is that necessary? Cause, I'd rather not have to pay for a service like that, it seems like it should already come with it...or maybe I'm just cheap;)

I use the PC desktop app to sync and the stock player to play the music so no, you don't need to pay for anything :)

Doubletwist's PC client does a great job of syncing iTunes playlists to the droid. I tried their droid player (I didn't like it too much), but I think the only player that supports SRS and Dobly which our phones have is the stock one. SRS sounds great too!
 
I was using Winamp but just tried the stock player... dang, you guys aren't kidding, SRS sounds great!

It's free to sync with doubletwist.

I actually sync with doubletwist because it organizes everything like itunes would, which is the one thing I do love about itunes (the only...).

You know what I've noticed. If I activate SRS or whichever sound enhancement with the stock app (you actually have to play something for it to activate), and then proceed to using another playing like WinAMP - the sound enhancements remain. I hope other apps will be developed to use the enhancements natively.
 
hmm, so I got some sweet torrents last night and I'd like to add them to my phone to listen to on the way to class. I go to "Connect To PC"---> "Disc Mode"


is that what is needed? cause nothing changes, and it doesn't show anything in my notice tray...

What is your OS?
 
Based on my experience with the PC version, I've been using the Songbird Beta version recently and am enjoying it so far. That's based solely on its ability as a music player and the features related thereto.

I haven't tried to sync playlists or anything like that, mainly because I either go straight to the song I want to hear, I just go to songs and shuffle them all, or I'll set up a particular album and listen to it straight through. The only time I use a playlist is when I go to the gym and I'm being extra fat and lazy right now, so that hasn't come into play yet :D
 
on windows i use mediamonkey
on linux i use Rhythmbox
and i on android i use htc stock player

i like the stock player with SRS or EQ... like both
like the layout and display of album arts

I can confirm this, I've just tested it and Mixzing adopts whatever the stock player is set to. I read that dolby mobile is actually at the hardware level in the phone anyway in this interview, which would explain why: Interview: Dolby explain about “Dolby Mobile”

I have also used Rhythmbox and can verify that it works great. I prefer to use Amarok, simply b/c it's a smoother player.

Quick side question. Is there a way to have Rhythmbox copy the playlist as an m3u rather than a pls?

Amarok is a Linux app (specifically KDE) to manage music/playlists/etc. It is not an Android app.

The Amarok app in the Market is a remote-control app for controlling Amarok on your PC through your Droid (like Remote for iTunes).
