Root What's the best ROM?

I know everyone has their favorite ROM. But is there a standout ROM that everyone just loves? I'm specifically looking in your direction TheAtheistReverend.

Currently I'm using CM7. I like it quite a bit (doubled my battery life) and it's very stable, but I have a few gripes:
1. camera BLOWS!
2. No MMS no matter how hard I try I can't MMS working. Tried every hack I could find.

I'm not beholden to an AOSP ROM either, if there's an impeccable Sense ROM I'd do that. Here are the ones I'm considering:
1. Liquid Smooth
2. Condemned CM7 (from a few posts down on this page)
3. Any really good Sense ROM

Any opinions would be welcome.
 
Have you looked at Andybones Stock or Gingerbang Sense? Two sense based ROM's that are very stable. But they are stock...no debloat, no mods, etc. You can install mods though.

Check them out on XDA.
 
I am using SkyRaider Zeus 1.3 and I love it. It has excellent battery life, a few mods and is perfectly stable. I have been running it for a little over a month now. I was using a few different MikMik roms. They were good, but not very stable. I have also used CM7 but I like Sense.
 
I ran HD 1.1 for a bit and liked it but it had a couple of minor bugs so I thought Id try something else......

then ran Mikrunny and I loved the look and feel of it..... probably best in that regards...... but after a couple of days I completely lost access to the phone/people/etc....... same thing happened after a couple of days after reflashing it as well...

been running Coredroid for a couple of weeks now...... completely stable.... has pretty much same mods as the other 2....... without any bugs that Ive found so far.... think I'll keep this one til I get bored and want to try something new :)

Please let us all know if there is a 'best' ROM. I've enjoyed many (some mentioned here) but even I can't agree with myself on 'best'. CM, MIUI, Sense 2.1/3.0/3.5 - they all have their strong/weak points depending on your perspective. Hence the beauty of the rooted Android world when there are committed developers to do the heavy lifting for our benefit.

My short list is (in no particular order)

  • GingerBangSense
  • Virtuous Affinity (or Unity for Sense 3)
  • MikRunny
  • SkyRaider Zeus
  • MIUI
  • CM7...

Check out post #189 on page 19 of this thread. It has a zip file containing a new APN .xml file. Use APN Back and restore from the market to replace your current APN with this new APN.

I ran Coredroid for a while. When I used this new APN my MMS started working.

EDIT: I also had MMS issues with Mikrunny till I used this APN.

Got a link to Coredroid?! i have been searching and searching. I likes HD1.1 but the battery life was horrible. So if its alot like HD1.1 then i wanna try it and see if the battery is acceptable. Thanks.
