Whats the difference between setting up moto voice and google now

I'm almost 100% certain that only Moto Voice allows you to control a phone with the screen powered off. Google Now only works when the phone is powered on. Moto Voice is handy when, for some reason, you can't power the display on first - while you are driving, with the phone in your bag and your hands are full, etc.

Lollipop may change that, though.
