What's the difference guys..

Hey all,

My contract is up for renewal with Orange and I have loved my Desire sooooo much it hasn't felt like 18 months has gone by, best phone I've ever had.

So...like may others I considered the Galaxy S2 but I have no complaints with HTC and from what I gather the build quality on the S2 is a bit naff compared with HTCs. My question is seeing as though I've pretty much decided to go for the Sensation do I go for the XE model or the normal Sensation? What's the benefit of XE over standard?

I like to watch internet TV (streaming) on my phone over wi-fi at home, play the odd game to keep the boredom of work at bay, use it as my main camera and record videos of the kids, pop the buds in when polishing the car, oh and every now and then I might make a phonecall or text someone too

So Sensation or Sensation XE?

Thats actually a misconception. Although the HTC Sensation appears to be better build quality, ... feels more solid in the hand compared to the plastic feel of the GS2, the build quality on the Sensation is actually quite poor really.

If you go over to the XDA forums you'll find a thread where more than half Sensation owners have dust under their screens in a poll. Another poll where roughly 50% of owners have had the problem with unresponsive screen. Common Problems with loose creaking housing etc etc.

Dont get me wrong, I love my Sensation and prefere how it feels in the hand compared to the GS2, and Ive personally had no problems with mine what so ever in the 4 months ive owned it.

It is however a misconception about the GS2 having poorer build quality though, so dont let that be the reason you dont consider a GS2. I would say try both phones in a shop and then make your mind up. I would also consider the Galaxy Nexus if buying a phone today!

IF you decide to go for the HTC, If buying sim only I'd get the original Sensation, you can pick one up for

If you can get the XE for the same price as the standard Sensation then get it but if not then I'd personally go for the standard Sensation. You can very easily root and install the XE software if you want the Beats audio mod anyway. Only thing you won't get is the Beats heaphones but i personally think they're a little over rated.

Whilst i don't disagree with master_yoda above about the dust under screen etc (i don't have any of these issues personally but know others who do) i would still argue that the SGS2 is both poor build materials and poor build quality but it was the cheap plastics that put me off completely

Thanks guys, it is on contract and I went for the xe, since going for it I've found a couple of problem threads for various issues but will tinker with it on Monday. Hoping it will be great but it'll go back if it doesn't behave lol
