Eris: CPU IS 528 w/ sense
Droid: 600 downclocked to 550
And now both are "capable" of running 2.1
So whats the big difference? I don't see any major one
Also when will we be able to overclock eris CPU?

The difference is the architecture of the processor. The Droids is bigger and badder. We won't get to overclock until we get root.

So should I trade in for Droid? and with new update we any flower to root?

That is really up to you. Personaly I love the Eris and don't like the Droid, but that is just me. If you are unhappy with the phone then you may want to look into it. You can check the root status thread at the top to see where they are with it. I know that 2.1 makes the Droid look slow to me now.

At the rate that Google is rolling out new software and new versions of Android, I have a hard time imagining staying with the same phone for 2 years. Is the G1 even two years old, yet?

My friend rooted his Droid so that it was at 800mhz when active, and dropped it down to 200hz when idle. Still has major battery issues and is debating getting rid of the root.

In conclusion: there is a reason the processors are underclocked (The iPhone's processor is underclocked as well)...The battery sucks enough at it's current. They find the happy medium that the phone uses and that's what they set the processor at.
