What's the weather like where you are?

That 4 day forecast is looking beautiful :)

The weather channel has finally nothing to talk about for us ... we are finally out of the frost/freeze cycle and the last storm (after all the flooding) is gone. Of course they did mention that because of the hard winter and wet, short spring we can expect to see a lot of black bears foraging in residential areas ... lovely.

Hmm, I wonder if they'll do you a "bear risk" index say from 1 to 10, 1 being highly unlikely to 10 being look out the window to see if they are in next door's yard rather than yours. After all we in Britain now have a UV index, which given our average sunlight per year is a bit "Health and safety", gone mad"

Seriously I would imagine the risk of hungry bears displaced due to the weather is a real danger. Just how problematic are they, and are people and pets in real danger if you're complacent?

Bear index ... I like it. :D

We are at the end of the Blue Mountain ridge and there are always young bears venturing into suburbia. This is nothing new. For the most part, they are more afraid of us than we are of them. It becomes a problem/danger when mamma bear comes looking for a very young cub out wandering and becomes defensive. That is a very rare occurrence.

Deer are more dangerous both as road hazards and in the fall when they become more active and try to jump through plate glass windows leaving a pile of freshly sliced venison on your kitchen floor.

I'm sure the weather channel will have a Deer Index as soon as they figure out how to track them.

I think we need a weather channel channel to let us know what the weather channel is doing ... and a weather channel alert index based on the number of ridiculous alerts they've issued. ;)

Bear index sounds like the game and fish department, not metrology. ...though I'm wondering when my part of Alabama will even register on the bear index.

I'll get the kid on making an index, he may be qualified. He went to school for meteorology but ended up being a wildlife biologist. He should be able to whip something up.

can I be credited with the idea of a "Bear Index", just "From an original idea by dynomot" will do. :)

Weather is cloudy and damp today as forecast :(
