I'm shopping around for a new case. I currently have a slim case by a random manufacturer. I like it because it's got a soft rubberized feel to it. But I feel it's a little too minimal. I had an otterbox defender on my iPhone last and that got me used to having a tank of a case. I was wondering what you guys were using and if you feel it's been good protection.

I would highly recommend the Otterbox Commuter. It's lighter than the Defender series yet still provides excellent protection as well as nice aesthetic look for your phone. One thing I can't stand with cases, is that when I put my phone down on its backside, I don't want the camera getting scuffed on the table. The commuter has an extra lip around the camera so it never comes in contact with the surface. Also their customer service is top notch. If your case gets damaged, they'll send you a replacement, no questions asked.

Otterbox + Realook screen protector is the best combination I've ever had.
 
i'm trying to decide between the otterbox commuter and defender case. right now im using a tpu case from ebay for $7. this also has a lip to protect the camera from touching any surface when laying it down. but you have to be careful which one you order (from china the lip isnt really even and so part of the lens will touch the surface when laid down) and then there are 4 different ones sold in the US

this one will not protect the lens when you sit it down

Yea very tricky. It looks like case 4 has the camera protection but it could be just the way the photo is taken.

For aesthetics I like cases 2 & 3 but protection I would have to go with 4.
 
My favorite is the casemate pop. Offers some great protection while having high aesthetic appeal. Well for me at least. Lol
 
Another vote, here, for the Siedio Active X.
It doesn't add too much bulk, and it has done it's job well.
It does, however, add some friction when pulling it out of my pocket, not enough to be a deal-breaker by any means, but it is occasionally annoying.
 
Another vote for the Case Mate Tough Case. It has a relatively slim profile and offers good protection. The outer shell is hard with just a bit of a rubberized flex feel. I love it.
 
I am very happy with my Seidio ACTIVE (Formerly known as the Active X). My wife just upgraded to an Inspire as well, and we got her the Seidio Surface case, and while she's only had it on the phone for a day or so, I am pleased with the fit and finish.

The main reason was that camera lens hitting surfaces, drove me nuts.
 
I like the Otterbox Defender on mine. Yep, it makes a big phone even bigger, but since I put it on within minutes of receiving the phone (bought them at the same time), it now seems normal to me. That's just what size my phone is, to me. When I occasionally take the phone out, it seems small to me. ;-)
 
How's the screen protectors that comes with the Otterbox cases? Was thinking about picking up the Commuter and was curious if the one that comes with the case is good, or if I should pick up another kind.
