What's your favouite ROM?

I've just this minute tried an AuraxTsense ROM and have gone straight back to Defrost (I just didn't like sense after getting used to a vanilla ROM) - such a great setup that we can try all these different roms etc and just switch back so easily :)

Tried ModaCo Kitchen rom in both Vanilla form and sense. Currently enjoying Vanilla Cyanogenmod. Even managed to properly partitioned the card for an ext partition were all my apps get installed by default.

i was on cyanogen vanilla too, i loved it but i could never get my camera to work and when it did it was average and that was on the latest version too so tried a few others and camera still didnt work, i go onto neophyte and updated my radio and it worked, (maybe was radio i dont no) but i just was happy to have a nice sense and the mods etc.
happy days :)

LeeDroid for me.
Just installed newest version and there is the latest gmail app as well as latest maps app and latest flash, phone seems to run very smooth and fast and battery a touch better.
I do think if you want a custom rom, you must be prepared to keep updating your phone to get the best from them.

After reading so many have LeeDroid, as I'm typing this, my Desire is flashing the LeeDroid 2.2b Rom.

Hope it's as good as you guys say.

Andy

Yes delete it from /system/customize/resource/android_audio.mp3 or replace it with something else... Will need root explorer or the likes ;)

Thanks. I hate boot sounds, and I almost shat myself when I heard that one. Made me jump out of my skin LOL

BTW I am VERY VERY impressed with the speed of LeeDroid. Thanks for pointing it out to me guys.

It is the best sense rom bar none mate, I have tried a few

Heh shame I've gone right back to LauncherPro. REALLY not a fan of sense.

Andy.
I always go from Sense to LauncherPro but the reason I don't use a Stock ROM even though I don't use Sense is because I still like the black notification bar, the Sense Keyboard and the Sense People, Gallery & Mail apps, they beat the Stock apps hands down, that's the only parts of Sense I use.

Black notification bar is easy to do since most custom roms include theme options, and Sense-like widgets are available in LauncherPro PLUS (paid), otherwise there's a few third party apps on the Market that works in ADW.Launcher or some other launcher that supports scrollable widgets, I got the People Widget and Android Agenda Widget that I tested in ADW and works well.

Sense is great but I don't like the general UI, the dock is a bit ugly and it lags the system a little, it was noticeable when I installed OpenDesire or CM6. I would have stuck to Sense if you could completely disable it from launching on bootup, but it launches no matter what just like Motoblur does, with LG UI and TouchWiz you can disable it and it won't launch that way you launch directly into your selected alternative launcher.

Just Flashed LeeDrOiD v2.2b, very very fast and LeeDrOiD ROM's have always been very stable, not sure whether to install LauncherPro though I was getting a lot of Force Closing and redraws since the last update, anyone else getting these?

Ha ha, I think it might have the new Sense because I can move the helicopter windows about when long pressing on them :D

Using the init.d enabled version of Teppic74's rom, with latest powersave mod and tweaks, plus a bit of theming. Did use an earlier LeeDroid for a while, but decided that while nice, stable etc it didn't bring much that I actually wanted that I couldn't do myself starting from (near) stock. Not a criticism, it was a nice ROM and I'd happily recommend it, just didn't feel I needed it myself. Next time I feel experimental (resisting hard - too busy at the moment!) I'll prob. go to the other extreme and try DeFrost - but I do use the HTC flashlight a lot, which is a big point against. But I'm happy where I am right now.

Although I'm using a Sense ROM, I don't use Sense. I actually used Titanium Backup to freeze the Sense launcher - not sure how much difference that makes to performance (can't be bothered to run benchmarks), but I feel better that I know it's not running in the background. Sense apps still work, so I think if this as my easily-reversible version of SuperVillain (Sense apps without Sense launcher) ;)

leedroid 2.2a for me too, only got my desire a week ago, rooted installed leedroid as soon as I got it.

Got a circle clock, changed the icons to colour pack, changed the notification dropdown to a mix of sense, dr droid and brightsilence (for the nifty android icon in the dropdown background) all made using the kitchen at UOT Kitchen Ive also put the click trackpad to unlock, 2 clicks and the phone wakes up and is ready to use.

Just these little things make the phone alot better IMO.

I now want to find more things i can add and change

Strange you need 2 clicks to wake with trackpad. Teppic's Rom wakes the phone with 1 trackpad click

It wakes the phone with the first click, which takes you to the lockscreen and then it unlocks the phone with the second click, means you don't have to swipe down.

Pretty cool, and means I don't have to use the power button at all.

Defrost has a flash light

Using Leedroid 2.2d (Newest version), Sense + Launcher pro plus rock!!! Sense keyboard is much better than normal android keyboard, i like compact qwerty... Sense can view stocks, news and weather, very useful...
