Help WhatsApp Can't restore

Hello there,

I'm trying to get WhatsApp from my Galaxy SIII and restore into my new Galaxy S5. But for some reason it can't restore all the previous chat (data).
I tried few months ago quite a few times, and it all worked. I copied SIII whatsapp folder into my Laptop and then installed WhatsApp in my phone and then connect the phone to my Laptop and copy WhatsApp folder to Phone. And it said the folder already exists (As i freshly installed in the phone). I clicked on Yes to Merge the data to existing Whatsapp folder. But it doesn't work. I tried quite a few times. Any suggestion please.

Thanks

Shahid

Hiya and welcome to Android forums!

You previously done this method before and it restored your chat data?

Typically you can't get access to that data unless your rooted and have access to the data/data folder where data like that is typically kept.

You can use helium to backup that particular app and data and restore it to your new s5.

Can you please describe the steps how to do it. As i know Helium is a good backup software but i never tried WhatsApp to move my data across. If you can guide me that
will be great.

Thanks
