Help Whatsapp does not like detecting contacts

Good day everybody.
Whatsapp Version 2.7.7533 on tab P7500

I was not able have it from google play so I d/ed apk file from Whatsapp website, after installation, whatsapp is not detecting contacts with whatsapp from my contacts.

Please help.

I have found it detects contacts better if you have the telephone numbers in full international format

eg: +447123456789

rather than 07123 456789

They are on international format but whatsapp don't like them.

my whatsapp doesn't sync the pictures from the regular contacts!

try to refresh the contact list in whatsapp ... it added 2 contacts which were not showing up previously in my list. also updates the status of contacts
