Accessories When 3500mah just isnt enough ... (vent, rant)

I like to buy OEM batteries. I got two HTC 2150 mAh extended batteries direct from Verizon Wireless online and got my corporate discount and they were running a special so I got them cheap. They work perfectly on my Incredible and if they didn't, I'd just return it to the local Verizon store. The best performance so far I had with these batteries were about 36 hours of light/moderate use.

Because it's STILL the best battery on the market in terms of length of time between charges. So what if it's not EXACTLY 3500? It's still more than the OEM, 1750, 2100, and everything else on the market. If I paid $55 for a 3500 and it's actually ~2500-3000, I can live with that because I know I can make it 2-3 days on ONE charge. But what I can't live with is charging my friggin' battery every god damned day like clockwork.

what is better for you in the long run:

$55 --> 2-3 days of use

$0 --> 8-12 hours of use

exactly.

who gives a shit if they're lying about the actual mAh? (sure, it would be nice to know exactly, but) I bought the battery to last longer. So far, I am more than satisifed. If you want to stay within a 4 foot radius of an outlet at all times then by all means keep your stock battery. The rest of us have lives that demand more than that.

There's no question that 3500 mAh is better than the horrible 1300 that it comes with, but if you're satisfied paying for something rated 3500 and you're happy with it only being 2500-3000, well, I disagree. I expect a product to work as advertised - if you don't, that's your problem.

Then you should avoid ebay batteries as well. They're advertised as 3500 and they're really 1500s or 1700s if you're lucky.

i agree he is

lmao, i am very familiar with the threads you posted. i have followed them since they day they were created. but unlike your rant in which you assume i am making things up i have seen actual data.

if you actual read those threads and then gone to the batteryboss testing you will see exactly what i stated. seidio hovers around 80-85% of quoted battery rating. while your cheap piece of shit hong kong crap is all over the map in terms of how they rack up against what the ratings are suppose to be. Hell even dustins results show its close to 80% of rated output, which again backs up my statement

I never once stated the seidio batteries are good or they were not lying about the rating. I stated the simple FACT that the seidios are more consistent than most of the ebay crap which is directly opposite of your initial post

No cheap piece of hong kong crap here, I use the HTC 2150, bought directly from VZW.

I've seen a lot of your posts here howarmat, so I'm not surprised you blindly support Seidio - you're a total fanboi. I can't understand why - you're reasoning is that at least they are better than the cheap hong kong knock-offs. My point is that they don't deliver what they sell you, even if they are better than the bottom of the barrel.

I suppose if you bought a car advertised with 300 HP, but it only delivered 250, you'd be happy with that if it was from your favorite brand, and if it were better than a cheap Korean knock-off. Pretty low standards you have there. Enjoy wasting your money.

That post is out of line, in my opinion. While i might agree with some of your points, to directly insult and attack is really not called for. We are all here to help and learn, nobody should be leaving with bad feelings. IMO anyhow.

I am even worst then him actually! Because i bought the 1750 from Seidio and got burned, and now im considering heading back for the 3500. This is because there are no alternatives right now! I want the most possible life out of my phone in a day without sacrificing functionality which i love. $55 is a very small price to pay for that ... regardless of the MaH

But i do see your point, and i know im a fool for doing so.

But i would suggest just editing your post above, we arent hear to insult anyone for their choices. Im not a mod though, so its up to you.

Can you give you my expierence with the EBAY Batteries..

I first ordered the 2600mah it came to me labled as a 3000mah, after a few chargers I was getting great life better then the VZW2150 by a lot but not on par of the Seidio 3500. I cracked my back case that came with it so I ordered another one that was labled 3500 decided I'd give it a try and let me tell you it was a crap battery. Barely better life then my 1500TP2 and not on par with the VZW2150....
The Hong Kong batteries are really hit or miss and from what I've read usually a miss.

I used my Seidio 3500 on a road trip from Denver to Chicago (took just over 13hrs) had my phone on the whole time, and streamed Slacker or Pandora radio for a good 4-5hrs of it, used navigation a few times once in Chicago, streamed MP3 for basically the whole trip and played games for about 45 minutes . and When I arived to my Apartment in Chicago it still at slightly over 20% battery life left. Now that is impressive the up and awake times were almost identical since the phone was on the whole time.

If you want insane battery get the Seidio3500 the back case kicks ass and it's a tank of a battery. I only use it now for situations like that as my 1500 and 1300 battereis get me 20-30hrs on my daily normal use.

exactly my point.

You want 90-100% of claimed value go HTC OEM or VZW extended.

You want 80-85% of claimed value you can get a seidio.

You want to just roll the dice and have no clue what you are going to get get a cheapo hong kong.

i am no seidio fanboi, but atleast they are consistent compared to the other cheap crap. that was the only point i was making

Name calling needs to stop now.... off topic rants need to stop now.

Please keep the REMAINDER of this thread ON the ORIGINAL TOPIC

rsarno, when you get a chance please get those pictures up of what it looks like with the thicker cover? Thanks in advance man.

I did take some pics, will load them when im home.

BTW, FYI ... Day #2 and i turned on Juicedefender to manage data on/off with screen, and also went into Airplane mode underground. There was almost no improvement.

I say almost because coming out of the subway, around the 3hr unplugged mark ... yesterday i had 70% today i had 80%, but now at around 6pm I have the same 50% as i did yesterday with same usage.

Running it down to 1% again, and will try again tomorrow.

This battery is DEFINITELY better than the stock, or 1750 in my experience, but not nearly as good as what people are reporting from the Seidio.

It looks like (so far) i can squeak out about 12-16hrs up, 6-8hrs awake

Assuming it will be a bit better once it breaks in, but this is decent for now

here you go:
Picasa Web Albums - Rich S

comparison to my wifes DI with standard battery, and she has a Seidio Active case on it:

if you close your eyes, the width and weight are nearly identical to the Droid1. Definitely feels great in hand, and the weight is noticeable but not bothersome

just put phone on charger

12hrs unplugged, 6.5hrs awake
30% remaining

Juicedefender was managing data (turning on/off every 15min)

SetCPU dropped cpu when screen was off

Set airplane mode when underground in both directions.

Overall not bad, a bit better than yesterday i think

Wow that looks very different from the regular Seidio one that looks like this:

Honestly I'm a huge fan of the HongKong cover, it's great . Until you drop it, it's very cheap plastic and it cracks very easily. Dropped it on thin carpet from about 4 feet and it chipped out the back of my first back which is why I ordered a 2nd HongKong Battery, that back is what I use with me Seidio 3500. Not worried about dropping it since I only use extended batteries when I'm going to be in the car for extrmely long times or at home when I'll use my phone to stream pandora via bluetooth for a 4-8hrs

Yes they are very disfferent. I guess you get what you pay for in a way haha

And so much for testing my battery life, damn Rovio had to release 150 levels on angry birds??? Damnit hahaha

FYI small update, i would not recommend anyone buy that $10 hong kong knock-off .. for me it is only slightly better than the stock, or 1750 seidio

today i got a coupon from seidio and ordered the 3500 with 15% off, now that im sure the size isnt an issue i have no issue spending the money.

ill let everyone know how that one works out under my heavy usage.

EDIT, for anyone wanting the coupon .. use code TREAT15 and it gives 15% off entire order .. im not sure when it ends, but if you really want to use it just go on their live chat and ask for a new coupon if this one is expired. They always seem eager to help get a sale

I have two 1500mah Hong Kong Knock Offs and two 3500mah Hong Kong Knock Offs and they are good batteries. The 1500s last just as long as the stock and I get well over 40 hrs uptime and over 10 hrs awake time with the 3500s. I would recommend them to anyone.

I am happy to say that my Seidio 3500 has arrived and i have used it now for 24hrs ... even harder than i normally use the device, which is HARD lol

It is only my first charge cycle so i cannot give a FULL review, but already i am BLOWN AWAY!!! The $10 Hong Kong one is NOTHINGGGGGG like this Seidio one!!

Im at like 11hrs awake using pandora, gps all day, navigation at times, web browsing, multiple gmails syncing, angry birds, mp3 player when underground, NOT using airplane mode

And i still have 51% left.

WHOAH!!!

Tomorrow im going to run it a bit easier and recalibrate batteryLeft to see what its estimating for total life.

I will write a full report when i test a few things

haha Told ya, the Seidio is da shit.... I've had every battery nothing even compares . BLOWS away the 2150 or any of the knock offs.

glad its working better for you than the cheap chinese shit. i am not surprised at all like i stated before in the thread

Not that i dont believe people posting on forums, but i usually have my doubts because there is always the disclaimer "everyone has different results"

But in this case, you guys were right, and this thing is WAYYYYYYY better than any other battery i have tried (stock, 1750, 3500 from hong kong)

Well worth the money, in fact now seeing the results id probably have paid more lol

What size batteries can I buy for the DinC without having to purchase an extended cover?
Making out my Christmas list for Santa :D

You can get a battery from the HTC TouchPro2 , HTC EVO or HTC HERO they are all about 15% more capacity then the stock Incredible Battery 1500mah to 1300mah

or you can spend a bit extra and get the Seidio1750 although it's more along the lines of a 1500-1600.

I've used both the Seidio is only slightly longer lasting then the OEM HTC1500 maybe an extra hour or two of battery life but is 2-3X the cost

as far as the extended batteries I'd go with this list

Seidio 3500 > KnockOFF Hong Kong > Verizon 2150 (the VZW Battery is a waste)

In my experience, the Seidio 1750 was a complete ripoff. If there was even a difference from stock, i could barely notice it.

I have tried almost every battery ... some good, some bad, but right now if my Seidio3500 had a hole, i would probably hump it! Thats how much i love it.

I can see myself easily forgetting when the hell i charged my phone last, or even where my charger is!!

I know you dont want the added size or weight, either did i. But wow, im so glad i tried it.

I know a lot of people had a bad expierence with the 1750 I had a pretty good one plus I got it super cheap $20 . My biggest regret of owning my Incredible was when I traded my 1750 and Stock Battery cover for a VZW 2150 and Cover , complete waste, I ended up selling just to buy a new stock battery cover and a 1500 battery .

at 12hrs off the charger, my usual heavy use .. 66% remaining!

Im going to try to run it down to 5% or so and see how far i get

BTW omg how long it takes to charge!!! Took 9 full hours to charge it to green with the phone off last night!!

EDIT
like 15hrs off charger, im at 52% (played a bunch of angry birds ehehe) ... gonna be daring and leave it off the charger tonight. Im on wifi so it will be interesting to see how much it drains

EDIT2
Woke up and it lost about 20% in 8hrs of me sleeping, sitting idle on the table with Wifi connected. Not bad .. but that could be a bit better, considering i have SetCPU dialing down when screen is off. Assuming thats even working
